What is your favorite dog breed? Think of at least one dog breed that you would like to share your home with.

Now for your info the dog breed I like is the Basset Hound, and in fact I had one as a pet for at least 7 - 8 years (her name's Sparky if you're curious). She passed away due to complications of the kidney organ, and she shall be missed :( .

I love all dogs, but I have a soft spot for Labrador Retrievers.

Poodles. They look bizarre, but the ones I've met are really great fun to be around.

Pit bulls.
That's what my current dog is and the one before that. There are other breeds that I like equally well or even better but I adopt pit bulls because they are harder to place in homes than other breeds.

i do not particularly like dogs. i see that they are living beings as deserved of kindness and consideration as any other life form, and that they are blameless for the reasons i do not particularly like them.

i find dogs to be rather dirty animals. they lick their bottoms and genitalia, but that is the extent of their grooming (which may not be grooming but just licking off the re-digestible material from their bottoms, and tasting their genitalia to check their pheremonal content). cats lick themselves all over for the purpose of cleanliness, and their fur is always pristinely clean, but dogs just get dirtier and dirtier until they radiate stench unless they are washed or cross a river.

when my family had a farm, we went for walks with the dogs, and they used to run off and revel in the stench of dead cows, and roll their bodies in the rotten carcasses of the dead cows and i was utterly disgusted. how could they like it?

also, dogs demand constant attention which i am not prepared to give them. cats need attention for periods of time, but they have had their fill after about 5 minutes which corresponds to the amount of time i am prepared to divert my attention from what i am otherwise doing.

but my favourite breed of dog is the german shepard followed by the sammoyed.
toy poodles irritate me for some unrelated reason.

Mutts. Oh, sorry; "mixed breed". They tend to seem to be a bit more intelligent and hardy and avoid many of the health deficiencies that are bred into highly restricted blood lines (looking at you, snout-less dogs and you, cavaliers with your too-small brain case).

My favorite so far was a breed of one. A Kelpie-Aussie mix that came from a working stock breeder upstate. Amazingly intelligent, loyal, athletic...but still loved to lounge when appropriate. Not quite as intense or hyper as a Border Collie. Wonderfully protective of the children. My spouse was working at a service dog organization when that dog was a puppy so she had the benefit of 8 hrs of daily training and she *loved* to have a job to do. She also didn't have any of the obvious signs of hierarchy-ness that so many dogs display; rather she acknowledged that yes, we were in charge but it was very clear that we were *partners*, too. I get..disturbed by dogs that simper, and strongly dislike those that are aggressive, so she was perfect.

For a city dog, pomeranian. If I had more space I'd maybe think of a bigger dog.
