In this thread, we will talk about which Christmas songs are the worst.

I absolutely hate the song "The Twelve Days of Christmas". It's annoying. It's repetitive. It goes on forever. It sounds old-fashioned and out-of-date. Who gives other people geese for Christmas anymore? Another Thing: Christmas only lasts for one day. What is with this crazy song?

"An Old Fashioned Christmas (Daddy's Home)" 1975 performed by Linda Bennett.

In religious tradition Christmas actually IS supposed to be 12 days, and 12 nights. Christmas is actually is only supposed to get started on Dec. 25th, and the climax of the season is supposed to be the "Feast of Epiphany" on January 6th. But even most of us Gentiles dont know that anymore (I quizzed friends and most had no idea which days on the calender are "the Twelve Days of Christmas".

But the song is more than a bit whacky.

"Ten lords a leaping"?

What is THAT about?

Did the narrator's true love travel to London and offer ten members of the House of Lords enough money to travel to the narrator's home just so these lords could hop around in front of the narrator? WTF?

Almost anything that doesn't date back a half century at the very least is unacceptable in my own book. Call me a curmudgeonly Scrooge, but working in retail guarantees I have to listen to whatever new Christmas album every rock/pop/country star puts out, and with the exception of the old standards, they're typically awful. It all blends together for me so I can't pinpoint any one song in particular, but just about any new/original pop Christmas song curls my toes. :P

Twelvetide/Christmastide. Christmas celebrations last longer within various Christian and Catholic denominations. I wasn't raised in religion, so I never understood that at first, either.

I do not like "Let It Snow" or "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." I don't like Rudolph or Frosty much either.

I get goose bumps when I hear traditional Christmas Carols sung by a full choir, though.

I tend to find the really bad songs funny so I'll post a song I don't like.

"Christmas Shoes" is an atrocity. Patton Oswalt's routine on it is spot-on.

This nightmare. It plays at my work every hour or so throughout December.

"All I want for Christmas is you"
I hate that song! It's not even Christmassy.

"Fairytale of New York"
So depressing.

"Let it snow let it snow let it snow"
I only dislike this song because I hate snow. I like winter to be wet and mild.

"Last Christmas"
This song gets stuck in my head every year.
