Difficulty with emotional memory.
I don't know if this is autism related or not so I just put it in this forum. I find have difficulty remembering emotions. For example I either can't or struggle to remember how a hug feels like emotionally, to remember how it feels to have a general sense of wellbeing, to remember what it feels like to be high or depressed or sad if I am not feeling that in this very moment. Like I remember my behaviours related to those feelings but not my emotions, how I felt.
When it comes to senses like taste, touch, or say smell I can remember exactly what a particular food tastes like, what it smells like just by picturing it or what a particular clothing item feels like against my skin.
Does this make any sense?
I guess its important because when I am in a depressed state it is hard for me to remember what it feels like to enjoy life or even what it is like to be happy when I am in that moment.
