oh yeah a german shepard attacked a rabbit, and then the dude but it was a flashback. i jumped like 10 feet in the air son when that happend 8O

***grumbles***

One of the worst King adaptations out there (and there a lot of bad ones, unfortunately).

I didn't watch the movie, but I read the story. Is the movie really that bad?

Laughable, IMO. Even my (then) ten-year-old daughter was laughing at the absurdity of it all. One of the few King adaptations for TV that I love, love LOVE is "The Stand."

I hear that "Insomnia" will be coming soon to television. I've got my fingers crossed that it'll do the book justice, as it's one of my favorite King novels.

I usually don't like film versions of books anyway, because the characters are always completely different from my imagination. There are only very few I liked, Shining being one of them. I loved that soundtrack.

I liked the book ,"The Stand" until I read the book he stole the idea from(IMO)..."Swan Song"....much better read.Another great one...."Weave World" and I love ..."The Gunslinger" books....got me through some very long nights in the squat.

Best Stephen King movies for me was...."It" and "Pet Semitary"...I think they are geared for teens but I still enjoy them as a guilty pleasure.

Most Stephen King movies are terrible adaptations; especially the ones he has an hand it.
I cant believe he thought Kubrick did a poor job

I like his early novels. I enjoyed Thinner and It the most; both terribly adapted.
Stand by Me and Hearts In Atlantis were better movies than stories. I don't know if King had anything to do with the films, but short stories are different anyway.

DeadZone was good too; good performance from Mr Walken.

Yes, ESPECIALLY the ones he has a hand in. "Desperation," in which he wrote the screenplay, is abominable. I love the book, though. His made for TV "The Shining" was a piece of monkey poo, imo, but Kubrick's is a masterpiece.

"Hearts in Atlantis," speaking of masterpieces :) , was a magnificent, serious book, probably my very favorite King book to date (I have it on good authority that "Lissey's Story" is amazing as well, really shows, as in "Hearts in Atlantis," King's beautiful *literary* writing, which many "literati" underestimate), but I didn't like the film at all.

Richard, nothing wrong with liking what you like! Me, I loved "IT" both the film and the book, but a lot of people I know, some of them writers I respect, HATE it. And I was totally freaked out by "The Grudge," had a really great time with that film, but I am, apparently, in the minority on that. :)
