my boyfriend sat me down the other day and showed me this documentary called "The Devil and Daniel Johnston". i have only been in Austin, TX for a little under a year now, but i was familiar with the crude logo of the little frog saying, "hi, how are you?" that logo was everywhere! so he sat me down and said, "this guy reminds me of you, i really think you'll like him." and i so did!
for those who don't know, Daniel Johnston is a musician/artist who made a great impression on Austin, Texas. he suffers from manic depression, officially. as an Aspie, i related to him as well because a lot of his behavior is similar to some Autistic behavior. he's a genius with words--he's an amazing songwriter, and that's really what made him known. the documentary is very, very sad and talks about his life and how he sat and harnessed a crappy tape recorder for his creative song outlet. i'm beginning to become super interested in him as an artist, and because of the documentary, now as a person maybe not *so* different from myself. ((a lot of his songs are pretty sad, just a warning!))
i just bought his first little DIY song album the other day, and here it is: "HI, HOW ARE YOU?"
