So I was wondering if anyone else suffers from a chronic skin condition like me and how/if they can cope with it. I've always had eczema, been to dozens of doctor/dermatology appointments and tried numerous creams to try and relieve the flare ups but it keeps being a severe problem for me I feel like nothing's working.
My lymph node glands have been swollen for over a year now and I got worried about Lymphoma and went to hospital to get a ultrasound on the nodes and biopsy and they didn't say it was anything bad in the results. So now my doctor is giving me all these creams in effort to make the glands come down and I'm still finding it difficult to reduce flare ups. But the glands are still up and no sign of going down. The biggest swollen ones are on my neck, collarbone and ribcage.
The worst time is in the night - I get all these rashes and these skin bumps/hives keep appearing on my body and most days now I have to take a Antihistamine to make me get to sleep its the only thing that works but its too drowsy to take in the day. Otherwise I'm literally scratching all night. I think though it can be stress related.

I want to know if anyone is having something similar. I'm sick to death of my itchy skin now! and it stops me enjoying the weather and soon I want to date and I think nervous situations make me itchy and I don't want to be skinning myself talking to a date.

Thanks

The Top Ten Reasons for Having Swollen Lymph Nodes and Itchy Skin are:

1. Bed Bugs - Biting, blood-sucking insects that live in mattresses and bed linens.
2. Acanthocytosis - A rare disorder where most of the red blood cells are abnormal with spiny projections due to lipid abnormalities.
3. Acute adult T-Cell leukemia - A form of blood cancer affecting the T-cells which make up the body's immune system.
4. Adult T-Cell leukemia/lymphoma - A form of blood cancer affecting the T-cells which make up the body's immune system.
5. Antihypertensive drug allergy - Taking antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure-lowering drugs) can cause an allergic response in some people, however this is considered rare.
6. Arthritis / short stature / deafness - A very rare syndrome characterized by arthritis, short stature, deafness and numerous other abnormalities.
7. Box Jellyfish poisoning - A sting from the Box jellyfish contains a chemical which is toxic to the nerves, heart and skin.
8. Cellulitis - Inflammation of skin or subcutaneous tissues.
9. Chronic Neutrophilic Leukemia - A rare form of leukemia characterized by excessive levels of mature neutrophils.
10. Chronic adult T-Cell leukemia - A form of blood cancer affecting the T-cells which make up the body's immune system.

Many thanks for the information. From that list bed bugs could be the most likely contender and hope to rule anything else out with my doctor.

I don't have swollen lymph nodes but I had BAD Atopic Dermatitis as a kid. The docs all pushed creams which I hated. I got Cortisone shots when my skin was really bad & they helped for awhile. I kind of outgrew it some as a teen. I scratched when I itched or when I was stressed out. Allergy medications help some cuz I'm allergic to grass, dust & pet dander which used to make me itch more. I kind of outgrew it some as a teen but it still acts up during the winter when the floor furnace is running cuz it dries out my skin. I take Prednisone for alittle while when my skin or allergies start getting bad & it helps stop the itching & helps my allergies alittle.

Maybe you have cholinergic urticaria -- stress can cause it, as can changes in temperature.

It's been a while since stress caused me to break out in hives but I often get rashes with hives from sudden transitions from cold to hot in winter -- the itching is unbearable and scratching only makes it worse.

Lymphadenopathy as an adverse response to drugs and allergies is well recognized. [...] Generalized lymphadenopathy also can occur in patients with such chronic dermatologic disorders as eczema.
