What are some foods that liked when you were younger, but so much anymore? Also, what are foods that you used to dislike, but like now.

I didn't like salmon as a child but I like it now. Also, I liked chicken nuggets as a child but not now.

I used to adore chard omeletted but now I dislike them. Also, I used to hate lettuce but know I love it.

Kids have more sensitive taste buds than adults, which is why some foods you hated as a kid you may like now. Most people think you've just "matured", but the truth is that your sense of taste isn't as strong as it used to be.

Anyway, I hated mushrooms as a kid but now I really like them - but only fresh ones, the canned ones are gross. I especially like portabello mushrooms pan-fried with some butter. Tasty! But I don't like them cooked with onions, another thing I've hated since childhood.

I really liked sour candy and could eat a lot of them, but for some reason I am not able to withstand the sourness as much as I did before.

French fries - I used to like them as a kid because of the crunchy "shell", but for whatever reason, I can't stand the texture of potatoes, and I just can't eat them now.

Sushi - I hated this as a kid, but now it's one of my favorite foods. As long as the seaweed taste isn't overpowering, I like it.

I guess I could say that I also liked chicken a lot more as a child. I still eat it, but now it's just "meh". I much prefer fish over any other meat.

I loved chicken as a kid but if it had bones in it I would be very fussy and my parents and my brother would get after me for eating only the skin and the meat that wasn't close to the bones, saying it was a waste. I was just grossed out by the fat and gristle.

I clean the meat from the bones much better now. Also I preferred white meat from turkey and chicken as a kid but I like dark meat much better now because it's not as dry.

I find that the things I disliked as a child and therefore didn't eat caused those things to lose their taste all together as an adult.

Also off topic, I wonder how many meaningful posts I can post Random before someone else posts lol I am bored.

When I was a child I loved certain commercially made sweet foods, but now they've changed how they're made. Mostly ingredient swaps like corn syrup/HFCS for sugar, coconut oil for lard, newer preservatives, that sort of thing. And I've found I can now taste many of the preservatives that weren't in use 20 years ago and they are not good. Even a childhood favorite like fruity pebbles or fruit loops tastes or smells nothing like it once did. Interestingly the generic/store brand versions & ones from Mexico taste much closer to what I remember. On the other hand, over the years I've found I can now enjoy ingredients in other foods, like onions or curry that I could not stand the texture or smell of as a child - I'd get nauseous.

When I was little (3 or 4), I ate a pea that was hard and weird inside. It made me barf and I didn’t eat another pea for 20 years. Now I really like peas again.

When I was 11 and younger, I didn’t like pizza, it was something I grew to like at 12 and then increasingly, and now pizza is a favorite meal for me. Unlike most children I didn’t like spaghetti, it was something I only took to in my 20’s. I now find it really tasty.

When I was little I didn’t mind fish, but as I got older I stopped liking it. I can eat it if I can drown the fish taste in a good sauce or something, but I do not care for fish. Interestingly, I used to eat fish au gratin when I was little and I liked the fish, but not the pipes, as I called macaroni back then. Now macaroni is my favorite pasta, and I like fish au gratin with more fish meal than fish, and lots of macaroni. There are fish au gratins I won't eat because they taste too much of fish and don't come with sauce.
When I was little I liked hot dogs a lot (wiener), but since my 20’s I haven’t been able to stomach it. Those sausages don’t taste good to me at all. If I can use one of two other types of sausage we have here instead, then I’m fine with eating it occasionally, but it’s not something I would want to eat often, as I easily tire of it.

I used to like liverpaste (and cucumber) on my bread slices as a child, but then I grew out of liking it. I haven’t tried it for a long time now. Maybe I should give it another chance… My taste might have changed again

At first I read that title as something that belonged in the adult forum
For me, sweet stuff is harder to tolerate. Hawaiian Punch now has to be diluted 3 parts water to 1 part beverage.

Pickles, mustard, beer :P

lot of acquired tastes as you get older

As for something I liked as a kid but don't like now? Back when I was a real little kid we use to eat butter and sugar sandwiches, I think I'd gag now!

^ Oh, I'd forgotten about butter and sugar sandwiches! I too liked those as a kid. I haven't had one since elementary school, but I doubt I'd be nuts about them today.

My musical tastes have changed quite a bit this year. I used to feed off British rock and now I feed off of marching music and war music from around the world, though mainly the German stuff.
