Radial fan going at full speed, open window, shades down, 24 litres of icecold cocacola zero and multiple daily showers...

(I know, seasonal 1st world problems).

You're in Sweden! You must be having record temperatures! I'll have to Google this.

Because I wouldn't use air-conditioning if the temperature is 25 Celsius during the day. And I rarely see Stockholm go up to 25 Celsius.

Yep....you were pretty warm. 24 Celsius for a high in Stockholm. That's a heat wave in Scandinavia LOL. I guess it's difficult to get used to those sorts of temperatures when you don't get them too often.

Here in NYC, if the high is 24 Celsius in July and it's sunny, people start talking about the New Ice Age.

Nope LOL...we don't have the problem of the Midnight Sun. Even on the longest day, it's completely dark by 9:30 PM.

The AVERAGE high temperature in NYC in July and August is 30 Celsius. During a heat wave, we have had MINIMUM temperatures of 27 Celsius. Our all-time record high is about 42 Celsius.

Eureka, California, hardly ever rises above 20 Celsius for a high.

We had three straight 38c days last week....and you're complaining about a small warm wind? I'm blond haired and blue-eyed, about as fair as you can get-- I may even look more Nordic than yourself-- and you don't see me complaining.

yeah, it's too hot here now!! Sitting still and sweating ain't my idea of a good time. Summer had been pretty good so far, but the last 3 days have been way too hot.

I think those who think heat sensitivity is a joke needs to realize that our issues are equal to other sensory issues. Just because our Scandinavian summer heat doesn't sound hot to some of you doesn't mean those of us who suffer it, don't suffer it. That's where personal sensitivities play in. I don't get how anyone can be so troubled by a little noise or some innocent lights, or get a meltdown from going grocery shopping, but I get that we have different issues. Anything over 21-22 C is too hot for me. That's as much of a joke to me as fluorescent lights are to some of you. I thought this was the one site where that would be accepted

I haven't tried this one but I've heard that if you wet a large towel or sheet, wring it out until it's damp and not dripping, then hang it in front of your open window, the air passing through the damp fabric feels a little less oppressive. Someone I know who regularly visits Egypt says she does this trick and claims it works.

Also -- cross ventilation. It's when you open two windows that are opposite or near-opposite each other on each side of the house or room, if possible. one open window draws the air across from the other, making more of a flow passing across the room you're in.

Fans: don't set your fan to oscillate if it does that. Set it still and pointing directly at your body. Fans don't cool a room itself, they cool a person's own skin and heat-regulating system by blowing air across human skin. When they're blowing at the wall, the TV, the book shelf and then you, you're not getting full-time cooling of your body.

Drink lots of water, as you'll feel hotter still if you dehydrate. Keep the sweat sweating, it's your cooling system, keep its supply renewed. Keep some chilled tap water in a jug in the fridge, as it does help cool you down to sip actually cold water rather than room temperature, though all water is good.

Wear light, natural fiber clothing; sitting around in cotton will feel cooler than in something with polyester fibers or other man-mades.

If you can buy one of those small air conditioner units that are designed to be put into a window that slides upwards, get one. Some people don't like air conditioned air but when you're really suffering it sure feels good to get that blast of Freon on you. It can even be a life saver in extreme cases.

Basis of this advice: living in a place that pretty much stayed between 90 and 103 Fahrenheit for almost eight months of the year.

One thing I do is make lots of containers of ice (or if you have cold pack/freezer gel pack thingies they work, too) and then put them in front of the fan.....makes the fan-air nice and cool. When one container of ice melts, I put it back in the freezer and take out another frozen one.

Thanks BirdInFlight, animalcrackers, but i already do all of those things. I cannot have the radial fan stand still, long term it cause irritation (try it yourself).

Also there is a big difference between the temperatures shown on the internet and the real temperatures which usually is +5 over the median value of the weather data.

A few years ago when my sister went to Spain, we had +1,5'C higher temperature up here than down there...

exercising in anything over 70F makes me sweat like a bastard in church. I am thankful that we are having [so far] a true-to-form Puget sound summertime this year, nice and temperate

I am also super heat sensitive, it's not fun! Especially when you're doing everything you can and you still feel awful. I don't get very sweaty, but I get bad headaches and get nauseated from the heat. Hopefully cooler weather is heading your way! And mine too

The heat is bad and the humidity is a lot worse. Yesterday just walking maybe a half hour to my apartment made me feel like I was going to collapse. It didn't seem to bother me as much when I was younger. I thought it was the cold people hate as they get older. Not that I'm a senior citizen or anything.

My parents are going up north in a few more days to visit my uncle. He told my mother that it's actually quite hot, but it's a dry heat. Several months of sunlight will do that. But dirty heat means they'll get thirsty a lot more, my mom said it was like that when they took a trip to Vegas.

I just hope my parents have a safe flight. My mom must really love my uncle, she doesn't sound like she's looking forwards to being up in the NWT very much. Said it'll be their first and probably last trip up there.

we're in the middle of winter at the moment, of course we have the usual whingers complaining when we have a cloudy day with no sun, I hate Summer the stinking hot weather, I wish we could have a longer winter.
