the TVs on the shelves at my local Walmart are attached to each other with wired alarms. Just how are you supposed to buy a TV if you can't get it off the shelf?

Ask a member of staff and they will help you take it off the shelf or fetch you one from the warehouse. That's what we do in my place of work anyway :)

I worked at CrapMart for over two years. There should be someone who works in the electronics department who can unlock it & check you out.

The ones on display are just that. For display.

When you decide which model you want you ask the sales associate who then fetches you one in a box from the stock room, (or even there on the lower shelf).

If you can't find a sales associate you could order it online. You can also order stuff online and have it shipped to the store.
