The other day, I bought a bottle of Nestle iced tea syrup, thinking it would be like those little bottles of concentrate with the artificial sweeteners that you squirt into a water bottle. Turns out it wasn't, since it was actually made from tea, sugar, water, and lemon flavoring. It was kind of a neat product, but it ran out on me very quickly, so that got me thinking that I could make my own using stuff I've already got, which would allow me to save money AND avoid supporting Nestle ('cuz let's face it, they're evil).

Anyway, I came across this recipe, but I'm not entirely sure if it's what I'm looking for. The store-bought syrup came in a 420ml bottle, and had enough syrup for 7 litres of iced tea, or 28x250ml servings. I'm wondering how I could tweak this recipe in order to replicate the syrup I bought before. http://www.food.com/recipe/iced-tea-syrup-382338

I wasn't sure where to post this, since we don't really have a dedicated board for food or chemistry.

Not sure.I drink gallons of sweet tea in the summer.Maybe make a simple syrup recipe, just sugar in boiling water and then steep tea bags in it.You can do some adjusting with the tea strength and sweetness.I like a fresh lemon wedge in mine,I can't stand the taste of Reallemon.Tastes nothing like a real lemon.Ive used the Koolaid lemonade packs for lemon flavor before and I preferred that to lemon concentrate. The frozen lemon juice or lemonade tastes fine, used that before in tea making.

That's not a bad idea actually. I just wonder how I'd integrate lemon juice.

You probably have more shopping options than I do,maybe the Minute Maid frozen concentrate.I think it's equal to six or seven lemons. To keep your ice tea from getting watery from ice cubes melting, freeze tea in the ice cube trays.
