Have you ever been depressed for such a long time that you feel like you are a burden to your family and friends, or maybe even they actually distance themselves a little?

Then you feel sad about being a burden and it makes it worse.

I have been depressed for quite a while and it is affecting my wife. She had gone to work part time just to get out of the house. Then when I took a pay cut to have less responsibility and less anxiety/depression she had to go to work full time. She says she likes being in the work world, talking to other people and getting away from us (my kids both have aspergers and anxiety issues). But I can tell that it is all building up and she is getting worn down and it makes me sad.

Can you take her away on a vacation? Book a cruise for early February? (They are far cheaper than you may think, if you consider they include all meals.)

I think it must be harder to be married to a long-term depressive than to an autistic who is happy. So use this to motivate your improved mental health. I hope the job at the autism place works out for you.

I realized recently that's been many months, maybe years since I last felt genuine joy. I'm trying to be optimistic and keep smiling, though.
