Last Monday took me 3h 45mins to drive to work. It normally takes about an hour.
It was cold all week, a bit snowy. We haven't had snow on the ground in the city for 1000 days.
I didn't bother going to work on Friday because there was nearly zero work I could get done in the snow, anyways, and it was supposed to be a huge snow day. Turns out there was only a bit of snow on Friday, but it's really coming down today.
There's probably about 5" on the ground here and plenty more to come this weekend.

One of our main bridges is closed due to ice bombs dropping off the support cables smashing windshields. A couple of our bridges here are prone to this, including a new $1.3B bridge, because they were never designed for cold weather that we very rarely get.

I was out yesterday evening and came home around 2am. The roads were OK and the only place I slid was right here in our neighbourhood where plows don't come. I had to roll all the way back down a long hill and pick a better line going up a little quicker to make it w/o stopping or slipping back down. Fortunately it was pretty easy. I do have cable chains if I absolutely need to put them on and crawl around on the ice. They're a hair large for my tire size, but will do in an emergency.

Right now I'm having coffee and making something hot to eat for lunch.. and contemplating checking over my Christmas list and then venturing out into the snow to make my way to a large new shopping mall to buy a bunch of gifts. The main roads and highways are clear, so it'd be safe enough.. but it's cold out there! :P Hmmmm or I could stay in and wrap what I've already bought and just do some cleaning and watch TV. Hmmmm.. but then I wouldn't get the fun or the challenge of driving around in the snow! :D Heh, pretty sure I'm gonna layer up and head out shopping this late afternoon.. mmmaybe

There was snow where I was Friday, but it slowly went away, and now it looks like it was never there.

It snowed again last night. It's pretty to look at, but it's a b***h to walk in.

We had about 5" of new snow overnight last night.. sucked to wake up and have to shovel it off my car and the driveway/sidewalk - but - I'd have rather been a bit late to work than left it for my parents to have to deal with in their current states of health. Also, at least it was light and fluffy and dry vs. heavy wet snow. Might snow more this week.. which is out of the ordinary for here. We haven't really had any snow on the ground for over 1000 days. Now it's forecast to be -10C sometime later in the week. That's VERY cold for here.

That is quite unusual for your area. Nothing much here yet. We expect a couple of small snow events this week. Last December was unprecedented warmth with 12 days over 60 degrees and Christmas Eve was 72 degrees. Then we had a 27 inch blizzard one of the largest ever at many reporting stations here.

Ah, yes.... winter.

The season that mostly consists of me wishing the sun would explode.

We're looking to possibly get such a snowing soon where I'm at, which naturally happens this bloody weekend (possibly stopping me from going to an event that I've been looking forward to for months) so I'm in an even worse mood than usual, which is quite the accomplishment. As if I didnt hate this season enough.

Already had been trapped in the blasted house due to snow/ice for about 48 hours last week as it is. Some of it's melted, so it's all slimy outside currently. And cold. Loathsome, really.
