I still tie my shoes this way.

I avoid shoes with laces these days for that particular reason. I can only do it the "bunny ears" way. I mean, I find the "normal" way best because the knots don't undo themselves so often but it's a lot less practical to perform. There are times when I try "the normal way" just to find out I really hate it and then I revert to the bunny ears.

Many people have noticed the way I am used to tie the shoes and pointed that out to me. I find that shamefully annoying and in order to avoid the exposure of this "flaw" in my preferences I tend to buy shoes that don't come with laces at all, that just fit in my feet somehow and off I go.

I tie mine differently than everyone else, but I don't know what the bunny ears way is.

Oh. The symmetrical way. Yes. That's how I tie mine. I mean, my precise method is slightly different, but the end result is exactly the same configuration. I was taught a different method, but I never implemented it. I invented my own symmetrical way because I hate crooked bows.

I don't think we all do it in the exact same way so yeah, welcome to the bunny ears club.

I wonder why velcro shoes don't become more popular. Surely velcro is more convenient than shoelaces. It takes less time to velcro a shoe than to tie it, and velcro never comes undone.

I can *almost* see a couple reasons why. Some people could claim velcros and the likes are lazy, childish devices. Others could claim that these lack in style and spoil the designs of shoes somewhat.

I find anything that efficiently rids shoes of laces a very smart construct, velcro included!

Velcro does wear out over time; replacing it is more complex than replacing worn shoelaces.

I generally prefer slip-ons or zippers, but use 'bunny ears' when I have shoelaces to tie.

Seconded. Anyway there are times when the shoe itself becomes useless way before than the velcro.

I prefer slippers and zippers as well.

I've never seen that before. I've seen people make two loops and tie them together, thought "bunny ears" could be referring to that.

The way I tie my shoes is make a loop with one side, wrap the other side around thumb holding that lace, and push it through next to the thumb - does that have a name?

I thought everyone tied their shoes that way. I've always called it tying a bow knot.

When I wear tennis shoes I tie them that way, but I try really hard to avoid wearing them. I wear flip-flops as often as I can, because tennis shoes make my feet feel awful sensory-wise.

It's the only way I've known but even when I double tie them they come loose. This is why I prefer velcro shoes.

I once did see a clamp that keeps the knot together though. Those would be pretty cool.
