How can you know if somebody Is secretly jealous of you? A group for instance. You don't know very well.

I wouldn't care, if they are jealous, they are insecure, what do you hope to gain knowing this? What would it change?

I kind of agree with this statement, but if someone is giving you back handed compliments I think that's a sign. They pretend to be your friend, but enjoy boosting their self esteem by putting you down.

Do you mean "jealous" (having to do with romance/sex).

Or do you mean "envious"?

You probably mean "envious". Wanting something you have in a non sexual/romantic context.

Individuals whom you yourself secretly envy may secretly envy you. It doesnt matter unless the person is a problem (like they openly give you a bad attitude).

^ the word "jealous" isn't only used in reference to romance/sex.

The OP is using the right terminology.
