What to expect
I am six days away from my eighteenth birthday and am unsure of what to expect/what is expected of me once that happens. Not much has been explained about it and it has been weighing me down [more than usual]
I will still be trying to complete the rest of high school as quickly as I can, continue going to therapy, and attempting to conquer some of my problems, but I am unsure what is secretly expected after all that stuff. Is it socially unacceptable to not have a job off the get-go, or to not drive/have a license? Am I supposed to go straight in to college...? I plan on doing these things, though not anytime soon, as I have some things that I deem more important at this time [like mental health]. My father wishes for me to do.. whatever it is everyone else does after they hit eighteen and I do not believe I will be able to grant his wish of normality for my foreseeable future [perhaps I will take an alternate path in life and see where it takes me]
Things like a license, job, and the like are not very important to me right now, but I wish to know what else is to come [besides scheduling appointments and the like]
Perhaps I am over-thinking this matter...

ok i am 34.
what is socially acceptable depends on where and when you live. and your particular social group.
in some areas, the public transportation is good and there is not a lot of parking.
if, for your practical purposes, you need a drivers license or a job, then get them. but do not let peer pressure coerce you into doing it. way too many times, i let idiots peer pressure me into doing things i did not want to do. and they were not my precious lil "friends" for much longer anyways.
same with going to college. college serves a function. but many things serve functions. especially after 2008 recession. seriously. in united states. some articles claim half of bachelors degree holders work at jobs that do not require a degree.
going to college has pros and cons.
and even if you do not go to college now you can still go later. college ain't going nowhere.
