I was listening to U2 yesterday (as always) and a couple of their songs really caught my attention and I thought could Bono have AS. I will quote a song of their lyrics from various songs.

Stories For Boys (From their first album Boy)
There's a place I go where I am far away
There's a TV show where I could go
Sometimes the feeling takes me
Sometimes I can't let go
Hello hello

and Vertigo is another example
Hello hello
I'm at a place called Vertigo
It's everything I wish I didn't know
Except you give me something
I can feel

Vertigo is about Bono's mind

What do you think??????

i think he has definately, thats why i think i used to like them:

Two hearts beat as one
I try to spit it out
I try to explain
The way I feel
Oh, yeah
Two hearts

Bono wears them sunglasses all the time too.

But he has that cult of personality. Hanging out with politicians and dignitaries and actually earning their respect and time? He must not be very repressed socially. But he does like to hide his eyes behind sunglasses all the time though. Hmmmmm.

I don't think Bono does. Adam maybe, and Bono may be a cousin, but I don't think he's straight up AS.

No. I think he's a very sympathetic and charismatic figure and so a lot of people can relate to him, including Aspies, but I don't see how he could have AS.

I watched a documentary about ABBA two years ago and Bono was on it and when he said his bit he just said a few words proberbly about 4 or 5 words at a time also. I read the book U2byU2 there story in their own words and Bono says when he is at a big party he tends to sit in the corner but at a small one he does get involved. Also when they record an album he never writes the words to the songs down what they do is they have a jam session with all the recording equipment on and Bono just makes the words up as he goes most of their ongs are written like that.

I always thought if I was in a rock band when I moved from glasses to contact lenses I would've started to wear sunglasses on stage.

I think The Edge is more likely to have it. Doesn't talk much but highly inventive on the guitar. In their early days he basically invented a new style of playing and is the one most responsible for U2's signiture sound.

But where was I... oh yeah, I guess Bono could have some spectrum tendencies. It's kind of hard to tell actually.

I think your reading to much into the lyrics. He is probably as far away from AS you can get.

I agree. He's one of those gifted people who can relate to anyone's suffering. His lyrics have literally saved my life in the past. But no, I don't think he has AS himself.

I'm still convinced I listened one of their early demos from 1978 and the song is very strange it's called Lost On A Silent Planet

I'm a fan of Bono but the qualities he has are shared by a lot of other songwriters and
philanthropists.I think there may be an element of wishful thinking if we believe he has
AS

I have a lot of respect for Bono, but as for being an aspie.... :? I tend to think that he has too many carisma points....Thanks gamers everywhere :D I think Cade and Unnamed. He really toches those that are suffering. Bono words are really powerful to me too though...A Beautiful Day is one of my favourite songs!

I agree. It never would have ever occurred to me that he has AS, or even remotely related.
He is an amazing lyricist tho'. :)

Bono and Asperger's? Really? I would rather have guessed ADHD, if anything at all. I mean, he doesn't have any problems with social relationships and such, does he? That idea with the ADHD I also just got because he said himself on a tv show here once that he were "like the hyperactive kid".

Actually I don't think he has anything at all. U2's lyrics and just the whole music are great of course, but I just don't believe in putting a diagnosis on anyone who just happens to be talented or have a creative, interesting or a bit different personality. Also, they wouldn't have so many fans if people were not generally able to relate to their lyrics.

Scotopic sensivity hence the tinted glasses (Elton has Irlen lenses too BTW) but Asperger's I very much doubt it.

Also read that after the Zoo TV tour which lasted two years Bono had trouble finding a routine. As he was used to playing live concerts for two years he didn't know how to live a life and had to ask a friend how to have a routine as he was stuck and lost and a bit stressed
