I've always seen professional sports as a huge and terrible waste of money and time. We pay these roid shooting meatheads millions for the privlige of watching them play with a ball. There are soldiers, teachers, etc who are much more deservant of that money. And the celebration when your team wins? You yourself achieved nothing. It makes no sense to me that people are either jubliant or devistated over the outcome of silly games they have no direct control over.

I hate sports as well, but I respect people that enjoy sports here. I was always terrible at any sort of physical activity, and team sports are the worst!

wilt would like a word with you.

most athletes who give a damn would like a word with you.

i would like a word with you

i don't get excited about sports, mostly because i don't understand most of it and find the rules in anything besides track and field too complicated to follow, personally.

but i understand how it can make people feel like they're part of something, or give them something to look forward to.
big professional events paying the participants multiple millions of dollars are harder to relate to, though, i agree.

i did sprints for two years in high school (200, 400 m and the relay a few times) and i wasn't what anyone would call "speedy", but i liked it. it was a nice environment.

baseball fans' love of stats is funny to me, sometimes. i do think some particularly rabid fans would be better off actually participating in the sport, and if not....well they're a problem.

violence between fans i truly can't grasp :skull:

I hate the stereotype that all Canadians love hockey and all kids in Canada want to be hockey players when they grow up. But a lot of people in Canada seem to thrive on that myth. It's probably okay for me because I'm female, but I've heard of guys being harassed and bullied because they admitted they didn't like hockey.

I'm like, so many Canadians are talented at art and writing and music but no one cares. They care about about the ones who play hockey and want to help kids who play it by giving them the resources they need.

And of course that goes for all other sports, too.

I find sports extraordinarily boring - I couldn't possibly care any less about any of them. I also don't understand when people say things like "we won" when the team they like won - how did "we" win if you were sitting at home watching the game on TV? Although I can understand how people watching the game in person and cheering and stuff might help give the players the motivation and encouragement they need to really play their best. In college, though, I liked the days when there was some sort of sports game, because the dorm was nice and quiet because everyone else was at the game.

Obviously, I don't hate sports. I am a fan of tennis. I also watched track, figure skating and gymnastics and am very interested in the Olympic Games.

No, I like sports, especially baseball. I watch every Cardinals game of the season.

I don't exactly hate sports, but I do agree that the people who play sports for a living are ridiculously overpaid.

I always hated sports but I have physical disabilities that make playing them difficult.

I don't hate sports, but I love playing table tennis and badminton.

My school has a table tennis club and a badminton club. They both meet every Tuesday and Thursday at the school gym within one hour of each other.

I only like sports, that has a practical application for survival.

I like physical activities but despise all the rivalisation, racing, points etc. that are always associated with "sports". All that "give your best!" and "show them you can do it" rhetorics makes me sick, I always score lower when someone says that to me.

Sometimes I watch professional sports for purely aesthetic reasons.

I don't like the fan attitude, I'm afraid of people reasoning on "our side must win" terms and they are the majority :(

I first got interested in H.L. Mencken, when I read a quote of his, "I hate sports the way people who like sports hate common sense." :wtg:

I did but realized that some of the mechanics in sports are applicable to drawing smooth lines. However, I didn't learn this till my twenties because none of the P.E. "teachers" I had taught anything at all.
