This is a weird question but my neighbors are very loud and obnoxious and my landlords have made it clear they're not interested in fixing the problem. So if I were to get one or two of these and set them up in front of my doors and windows where most of the sound comes in would they make it so I can't hear my neighbors?

This usually helps to shut up noisy neighbours. I recommend Panthera, Sepultura or Slayer. If you can't afford one like this, there are guitar amplifiers that are cheaper.

I'm having problems with my neighbours too. They are really nice but I'm not interested in hearing what goes on in their bedroom and I'm sick of it. It's been nearly two years and a year ago I did bang on the wall telling them to shut up. I lost my temper as I had tonsillitis and needed to rest. I literally know their schedule and routine! I meant to put a nite through the door yesterday as it was a Monday and I knew what was to come that evening but I didn't get around to it and thankfully they were quiet. I feel your pain

Okay but what about the acoustic panels? Will those work?

If you put enough of them on the outside of the house, probably, sound tend to bounce though... Could also consider making a wall out of wood, or placing something large enough between you and them, like a moving van, hang a rug or something. Be creative.

Another idea is if you feel like it is a domestic disturbance or you think they are fighting, consider calling law enforcement. You really shouldnt't have to take crap from people like that.

It would really depend on your house and how loud they I would imagine. Noise cancelling headphones are great for blocking out noise.

I'm not sure this is really what you're looking for. Generally, those might absorb a small amount of volume, but they are meant more to keep a room from having an echo.

I'm assuming that reinforcing the place with soundproofing material would be against your lease agreement, though.

Those are meant for cancelling out white noise, like airplane engines, so it wouldn't help much against neighbors unless they're always revving cars/motorcycles in the yard.

I bought a set of these and they're great so far: https://www.amazon.com/3M-WorkTunes-Pro ... dpSrc=srch

The volume of the headphones isn't great (I have to crank my MP3 player at full blast for a comfortable level), and I'm not sure why they require batteries just to use the external jack, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with them. They were only $10 more than the earmuffs without speakers, and it's certainly much more comfortable than wearing earmuffs AND headphones at the same time.

Mine where great for all noise I used to have drug addict neighbours blast Music I would put on my Headphones and listen to something really loud and it would either cancel out the noise or reduce it a lot.

I live in an apartment so I can't go putting vans or anything between me and them. And the problem is that my neighbors (they live in the building right across from me so I don't share walls with them) enjoy having bonfires in what amounts to my front yard. Practically every other night. And they usually last until 2 or 3 in the morning. Sometimes I wonder if they even have jobs to be able to do this as much as they do. But they'll invite their friends over and they'll all sit right outside my apartment and get drunk and the drunker they get the louder they get until I have a bunch of idiots right outside my bedroom window shouting and laughing at each other like they're the only ones there. I've considered calling the police but it's not like they're blasting music or actually screaming. Just talking very loudly with the occaisional yell. So the police probably wouldn't care.

They have a tutorial that attempts to explain the different products they sell. They do sell sound blocking products, but they aren't practical for renters. Sound absorbing products are meant to control echos in a room, not to block sound from outside the room.

Just make sure you try some before investing money in a pair: the white noise gives me migraines. (No, it's not the headphones; I wear large over-the-ear headphones probably 80% of my waking day.)

Well that may be, but ear muffs will actually lower the noise level by 24dB, not just mask it with more noise, so you don't have to have your own music so loud. I know when I try to blast my music to drown out other noises, it just amplifies my sensory overload that much faster, so it isn't long before I'm just completely destroyed.

Plus, you know, hearing loss isn't much fun either  I used to think ear muffs were for sissies, but I just don't care anymore.
