Since when is that an imposing height?

I'm taller than that and I frequently feel short.

.......is it just in my head?

Maybe in some parts of the world it is an imposing height. There are populations that average five foot and that's only the men...

That's pretty tall for a woman. In the US the average height for women is 5' 5"

It isn't just her height. She is also quite fit for a woman of any age.

Yeah but how can it be imposing for a woman and not also be imposing for a man?

I had a female co-worker a while back who was my exact height, 181 cm. Because she was female and more slender, she gave the impression of being very tall, whereas me being male and wider makes me come across as just slightly above average. I'd probably have to be at least 10 cm taller before anyone would be likely to describe me as "imposing". Probably.

I once dated a girl only half an inch shorter than me.

We looked cool together. 8)

Because 5'10" isn't tall for a man. It is for a woman. I'm 5'11" and frequently receive comments about it. If I were a man I doubt anyone would say anything.

Hippy, I agree with you. I know a lady who's 5 feet and 11 inches, she's imposing. I am here with my 5 feet and 10 inches, probably going to be 6 feet and 2 inches by the time I'm done growing. I wouldn't say I'm imposing, maybe it's because people can tell I'm younger. Does age play a roll? I know some 13 and 14 year boys who are 6 feet and 3 inches.

It's different for a woman than a man because human beings are sexually dimorphic.

It's because she's black as well. People that don't like blacks are always complaining about how big we are, even though that's why their grandparents bought us in the first place. In my mind there is nothing "imposing" about someone's height. However society will find a way to spin anything into a negative.

I don't think height alone is enough to make someone appear imposing.
I think you need some bulk along with it.

^ that, but up to a certain point. i don't think you need to quite be robert wadlow to be both slim and imposing.

but bulk matters quite a bit, yes.

women are almost universally shorter than men.

two friends of mine. they are both female, and hover around the 5' 0'' mark. one is slightly above, the other slightly below. i'm 5' 10'' exactly, but i get comments from both of them about my height, how hugging me is like "hugging a tree", how i'm like kelp...etc.

i appreciate it.

I'm 5' 9". Sometimes I feel like I'm too short.

You'd be surprised. I'm baffled that I've never been jailed for disturbing the peace. I am the definition of mellow. People say the weirdest s**t to me on a day to day basis.
