What do you think about airbags?

What do you think about airbags? These things meant to protect people have actually hurt many people.

they haven't hurt nearly as many as they've saved.

they're good when done right (as in, they don't blow shrapnel in your face upon detonation) but i think they're a bit overdone and everywhere now. do we really need three billion airbags?
