I was watching a cool documentary the other day my brother had on, can't remember what it was. But they went into a buch of science stuff and at one point they mentioned that potentially in our lifetime....there could be a Super-nova event in our galaxy that could be viable from earth. But the thing that might happen is bigger than a super nova and could be viable from earth. Like hopefully not to the extent it would destroy earth...but it could. I mean the narrator guy basically said eventually we may have to move planets....but will we have the means to do that by the time we need to? I mean every star dies.....thus our star, the sun will die, we may want to pick up the pace on technological advancement. But in the meantime there is no reason not to pursue more green energy.

But I mean clearly there is some belief in alien civilizations, I mean our world even sent out a sattalite type device...with recordings of people from earth...to tell our story to anyone who might pick it up. So that is what I mean even NASA is not convinced there is no alien life....otherwise why would they have sent out a constantly playing record in a shuttle for aliens to find? There could even already be signals from other planets...that our technology is simply not advanced enough to pick up....no one knows really what all there is in space.

I don't think many doubt the probability that there is life out there somewhere. Possibly technically advanced life. The real debate is have technically advance life forms been visiting earth?

I heard Trump is trying to get the department of defense to have a space branch. I guess hating illegal aliens just wasn't enough for him. Now he has to hate on the space aliens which haven't even been proven to exist yet.

Statistically, it is almost impossible that there is not life out there, possibly even in our Solar System (moons such as Europa look promising). However, the chances of there being intelligent life, which we are able to communicate with, are vanishingly small. The size of the Universe makes it almost certain that we, as a species, will never communicate with extra-terrestrial life.

I think it's far more likely that he misunderstood when one of his staff mentioned 'illegal aliens' and he thinks he needs to deal with immigrants from space right now.

Absolutely true that alien life has not been disproven.

Life existing elsewhere in the Universe is one thing.

Intelligent life capable of building radio telescopes, and living in the same time frame, and existing close enough to us to receive and send signals to us, is something else. Forget about sending flying saucers here to abduct us and mutilate our cattle, lets just stick to the topic of ET staying home and exchanging radio communication for now.

Earth has existed for four and half billion years. Life got started quite early, and has existed on earth for maybe four billion years. But humanlike creatures have only existed on earth for maybe less than a million years. So for more than 99.9 percent of the time Earth has existed Earth itself did not have "intelligent life".

Ever since I was a child I would make up my own versions of the famous "Drake Equation"(even before I read about the real Drake Equation) to try to guesstimate the odds of there being a nearby alien civilization. My guess is that life exists elsewhere. There maybe stars out there with planets infested with the equivalent of our bacteria. But very few of even those rare planets have had the time or the conditions to evolve multicellular life forms, much less intelligent species. The few that do are too far from us in time and/or in space to ever contact us.

Why are all the reports of alien encounters and abductions always from the US? I read that there have been reports in many other countries, especially English-speaking ones, but the only ones I've ever heard or read about were in the US.

I dunno about that. In 1997 this gentleman:

Image

The governor of the Kalmyk Republic ( a ethnic offshoot of the Mongols in Central Asia) of the Russian federation, (the guy also served as the head of the world chess federation) was abducted from his apartment by a UFO and taken to another planet, and was then returned to his apartment by the UFO( or so he reported). He is definitely not an American.

While the possibility of extra-terrestrial life is a valid belief, there is no valid empirical evidence for the existence of extra-terrestrial life -- only a few "organic" (e.g., carbon-based) molecules.

Besides, the lack of evidence against a claim does not automatically default to certainty of that claim.

This implies that it's something which could be disproven. It is easily proven if and when extraterrestrial life is found, but disproving it would require examining every possible place and time that there is to look.
I'll leave it to theologists to discuss the implications of such omniscience.
