Is anyone else surprised that we still have signs saying "men working", not "people working"?

No. In those location where "Men Working" signs are posted, I never see any women, children or service dogs at work -- only men.

Do you actually mean "... could NOT care less..."? Your statement implies that you actually do care, even though you have more pressing concerns.

I haven't seen a "men working" sign for I don't know how long, and where I live it's not summer or even late spring unless there's a lot of construction going on that blocks up the traffic or is just too noisy.

Just this Monday I took a cab to Canadian Tire to shop for a Father's Day present for my dad, and the traffic was so bad from construction that when we were only a short way from CT it would have taken me less time to walk the rest of the way. But I digress. :)

I think it's funny when the sign says "Slow men working" without any punctuation. But I agree with others that it's been years since they've been around. Maybe it's a regional thing.

It is similar to those signs that say "slow children" and show a picture of a child who is running.

Today I saw some signs that show the silhouette of a construction worker, but none of them actually say "men working".

The signs near me say something to the effect of "Speeding finds doubled when workers are present." More effective than reminding people to slow down. I have seen women on the crews, actually working, not just holding signs. Now that women do work on the crews, the men all clamor for the holding signs jobs.

They're clearly signs for the 80s band Men at Work. Isn't that obvious?! :P

Here's one of their videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SECVGN4Bsgg

Some joke that the kids are mentally slow. Reminds me of the Caution Special Dad sign in Family Guy

I'm kinda surprised that they don't attract more criticism, what with all the political correctness out there. Personally, I don't give a toss about usage of the word 'Men'.

I've seen quite a few Men Working signs in recent years, although probably not as many as there used to be.

Our local council had some bin lorries with "MEN WORKING AT REAR" written on the front, but they recently got changed.

I work in a male dominated job where everyone is usually referred to generically as "the men" or "the lads". It gets a bit annoying so sometimes for a bit of balance I like to refer to everyone generically as "the women". Someone invariably picks me up on it and asks, "What do you mean, 'the women'?" A few men get rather agitated about it.

:D
This morning I went to buy some hi-vis shirts for work and they didn't stock any in women's sizes.
So maybe the sign should be "Men and women-in-men's-shirts at work"

Life is too short for me to get offended over a sign, I have bigger things to worry about.
