Did you believe in Santa when you were little?

No. We did though know that there would be a bearded man giving out presents late at night...but he was a young man with a big red beard namely MY DAD, who treated the whole thing like a colossal joke--and so did my kid brother and I when we were very small.

i was too dim to have much more than a dim awareness of santa, but not so dim as to think he was actually a real thing and not some kind of social convention that a young boy could comprehend as such.

No, I never did.

Does anyone really?

Sadly, I know a girl whose parents only let her learn the awful truth when she was eight years old. It was like so many of the little white lies her parents told her, all the while neglecting the beauty of their own little daughter as she grew up. Her childhood was virtually over when she was twelve or thirteen.

She used to cut herself with razor blades, tended to be very dark, texted the suicide hotline all the time, was sad and depressed a lot. I rather miss her but she is gone from my life at the moment. Hopefully she is all right...probably so, because she is tougher than spring steel.

Santa was presented to me in a mythical way. More like acting like he was real rather than trying to convince me he was real. I do remember being put on Santa's lap when I was 5 or 6. I got a big static zap. So it didn't go too well. I didn't want to go near Santa after that. One time for kicks when I was 10 my dad dressed up as Santa and chased after me with a stun gun. just kidding.

Is never believing in Santa an autistic thing? When I was a kid I not only believed in Santa with all my heart but at Christmas I'd be as excited as maybe 20 kids all to once.

But I also lived in fear of getting nothing but coal or no gifts at all if I didn't behave. And by not behaving I mean crying. My mother has told me that back then she couldn't understand why I had so many meltdowns during the holidays, but since my diagnosis she feels that she does now.

We used to watch the santa tracker to know when to go to bed and be like literally SO HYPED in the morning when we saw all the presents. Our parents made us wait on the stairs till they were awake and we'd sit there for HOURS till they finally got up and dressed and told us we could come down.
I had two elves too! My brother only had one (haha). They used to write us letters and the writing was backwards so youd have to use a mirror to read it. They were VERY particular about our grades and behaviour. Honestly, that was a power move on my moms part. She could get me to do anything in the month of December by reminding me that I had to be on my best behavior or my elf would report me to santa and i would get coal in my stocking (only happened once tho! i learned my lesson reallll quick) Every morning from Dec 1 to Dec 25 I would be up super early to try and search the house for wherever my elves had hidden overnight. I loved it. And sure, I had to find out eventually. But it gave me many years of great memories first

I was a very strong believer in Santa when I was little. I got really excited round Christmastime.

Some religious-type people think Santa is really the devil because "Santa" is an anagram for "Satan".

I guess that also means God is really a Dog, then.
