I have Comcast cable. It covers the TV channels (traditional cable) / "Voice" (landline phone) / High-speed Internet.

I don't watch much television and could get buy on broadcast and occasional subscriptions to streaming services. Don't really need a landline phone anymore with my cell phone.

But I'm scared to dump it because I don't think I'll get good Internet elsewhere. Anyone here not have cable but still get high-speed Internet? I don't want a satellite provider that acts as a surrogate cable company with TV and phone. And I don't want to pay for Internet-only that costs roughly the same as Internet/TV/landline phone that I have now with cable. Any suggestions for a good Internet-only provider that's affordable?

We've never had cable for tv, but we do have cable for internet only. Dropped att years ago when they still hadn't brought higher speeds to our neighborhood (all around, us yes, but not here). We kept our landline #, but transferred to voip online years ago.

I have no idea what cable with tv or phone added on would cost. We use hulu, amazon, netflix, etc for shows. I didn't grow up with cable tv in the house, so I don't get the point of it.

Eta: Ours is Comcast/Xfinity. No choice on cable company here atm.

What internet providers are available varies greatly with locality.
I don't know that there will be the same companies available here in central Missouri that there are in New Jersey.

Playing in Google and finding this, https://www.highspeedinternet.com/nj shows that yes indeed, the available internet companies here and there are different.

Comcast is evil.

I have Centurylink DSL - 2 phone lines, pair bonded. Almost 60 meg down and a decent speed up. If you're lucky, they may have fiber in your area.
