Ok, I couldn't help it, I'm so proud of her...
A little background, if you will bear with me. About a month and a half ago, I was starting to look for another car (a truck in particular) because my Golf was acting up, and I thought it was having transmission problems. I was looking at craigslist ads and I came across a listing for an '82 Toyota Supra. The guy was selling it for $1K and claimed that it was in good running shape. I emailed him, told him it might be a week before I could come up and see it, he said that was fine...
A week later, I take a friend to go see it (it's a stick, and I could not drive one at that time). We check out the car, find it needs a good bit of body work, but it seems to run fine. The open headers were a little hard to bear, but I've gotten used to them =) Still might put a muffler on it sometime soon, though...Anyhow, I'm talking to the fellow (he's a very young man, living with his parents), I express my doubts about the car, and then say...well, $600. He grimaces, thinks about it, acquiesces. At this point I am now $600 less with a car that is missing the rear view mirror, passenger mirror, one of the running lights is missing, one of the front turn signals had it's plastic broken out, and it had open headers (with a straight six). I am now the happiest man on earth at this point.
Weeks go by, I have a couple people double check the car, add a rear view mirror, got some new tires and back rims (he had some awful looking ones on the back, I added the original supra rims), ran some fuel injection cleaner in it, got an oil change and a tag (it REALLY needed an oil change...black gold). I learned through some instruction and mostly trial and error how to drive a manual. And now...
Sorry, not a great picture (sun was in the wrong place, there was alot of glare on the hood, and the camera wanted to lower the shutter speed too much...ah well, point and shoot cameras...) but it's enough =) What you can't see is the yellow tinted windows, the hand stitched yellow and black checkered nagahide interior, the embroidered headrests that say "White Wolf." It's all very classy =) And she purrs like a kitten...
Ok, enough now, just wanted to share...everyone have a merry unbirthday!
