Specifically New England Aster which is found in northeast of U.S. Its leaves develop around the base and at along the stems, and have 2, 3 or 4 sets of huge flaps along their edges, with either adjusted or pointed tips. Leaves, stems and phyllaries have a significant thick covering of long, straight, white, glandular hairs, spreading endlessly from the surface. I find this so fasicating.

In case you dont know what wildflowers are:
By definition, a wildflower is a flower that grows in the wilderness i.e. it is not planted intentionally through a seed. This does not necessarily mean that you cannot plant wildflower through a seed.

Yes, I like wildflowers. Some taste nice. Of course, one needs to know which are edible. I also love the look of wildflowers. They are special. I hate conformity and when gardners uproot these lovely flowers and call them weeds. To me, they are just as beautiful as any flower the gardener is trying to grow.
We let our top field grow wild and it is beautiful. The plants that grow... It it lovely!

A few years ago my daughter and I went to a program to learn wildflower identification. She has continued search for new flowers for years. She has a wildflower book and has been recording her finds in it. I love it too and went hunting with her for years. One of my favorites is Linaria vulgaris (Butter and eggs), which I found nearby before I started with wildflower identification.

I like them. I identify plants and trees out in the wild. I also identify minerals and rocks.

I love being out in the wilds, away from everyone and finding wildflowers, of late I'm preferring boglands. I'm not always able to identify flowers but I'll take a photo and fall down a rabbit hole researching it later.

I like wildflowers. I like their resilience when they are under adverse conditions.

Yes, me also. There are bog plants around the islands in lakes in the Canadian Shield. Sundew and Pitcher Plant and low bush cranberries. I spent one summer looking at inland bogs in the Adirondacks. Where I am now are marshes and swamps. No bogs I'm aware of. However, there is a species of sphagnum moss that grows around here.

The best field guide for NE America/Canada for nonbotanists is: Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide. It is super-easy to use. Unfortunately for me, it does not cover into the Florida peninsula.

The Canadian Shield is a place where winters can be VERY cold. Like Minus 40 easily when the arctic air hits.

It's colder in the Canadian Shield than it is in the Canadian Rockies.

I like the Lauren Alenda song, She's A Wildflower. I have little interest in actual flowers thou due to colorblindness & sinus & allergy problems. I know flowers including wildflowers are essential for plants & animals like bees & butterflies but I don't take much interest in them other than protecting them
