This question is ignored by the press. The suicide rate is bound to go up during the lockdown, but the figures can be hidden and blamed on the virus.
For example. "Another victim of the virus" where they are actually a victim of the stress that the lockdown caused by the virus situation... It is far too easy to hide suicides and blame them on the virus.

Well, what can you do? The leaders will have been briefed on all of these consequences of lockdown and have to dole out enough hope/sugar coat things/outright lie while the cracks inevitably appear and widen.

It will only have been worth it if the virus is in fact containable. Let's find out. It's a race, us against it.

MG here's something else to consider. Is imposing a lockdown in second and third world countries at all fair when they simply don't have the equipment to save many lives? :|

We don't have it so bad here at least.

The suicide rate would likely go down if our leaders were willing to spend the money it takes to provide food, shelter, & needed non virus related medication for all citizens during lockdown. LOTS of people are out of jobs rite now & many don't get paid sick leave or other paid time off. People are worried about being able to find affordable food, afford regularly needed medication, & they're worried about being kicked out of their homes cuz they cant pay their rent or mortgage. People are being forced to make impossible decisions about where the little money they have will go. Some people are losing access to their phone service, internet, & TV due to them no longer being able to afford it. People need internet & TV rite now for entertainment & they need net & phone service to connect with relatives & friends & for various resources that might be able to help them with whatever. I'm sure the stress of all that can really get to some people. Plus people with various mental disorders not being able to get their prescriptions & not being able to see their docs & psychs could quite easily push some over the edge.

I'd say killing oneself due to stress that quarantine or something else that happened because of the virus is a case where the virus was an indirect cause of death. Those things wouldn't have happened without the virus after all.

I mention this because there are people going on the list who have died from other causes. I heard that one was a heart attack victim who did not have the virus.

I think domestic violence will be a bigger problem.

Domestic violence. I have visions of people throwing bottles of Domestos at each other! Probably works better then little bottles of hand sanitizer.

Sadly domestic violence exists. I understand frustration but maybe they need to take it out on pillows or matrusses...

I have health anxiety, better known as hypochondria, and naturally my anxiety gets a lot worse in the evenings and at night but there's nothing I can do about it. It's only at night that I want to scream and smash things and hurt myself, but I can't because the police could come and I could get kicked out of my apartment. So I feel like garbage and I'm probably going to ironically become sick from being forced not to let my body purge itself of anxiety.

People are stupid. They don't do any real research on how to help anyone with anxiety disorders. They think all we have to do is do is some deep breathing or take drugs. When I try to do anything to relax, it feels like I'm trying to enjoy my final meal before being executed.

Deep breathing does not work for me. It makes me go dizzy where I get into even more of a panic!

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I sure hope that all vulnerable people have the access that they need to mental health services at this time.

It gets sad, especially being by yourself... That's why I actually stayed with my uncle and his roommate for awhile... But that turned out BAD and now I'll have to occupy my time somehow by myself. I just got my taxes back and the stimulus check is coming up so umm... Order some books off Amazon? Digital movies? Get a Nintendo switch and Pokemon finally...

This evening I caught up with The Good Doctor (boy was that sad :( ) and got pizza delivered because I didn't feel like cooking lol...

At least my place has a relaxing personal balcony. Weather is getting nicer...
