I think this is a great question, but I don't get the interest in 'celebrities'.

Because of this, there are swathes of TV stations and progs I avoid, newspapers I quietly groan at, etc. And of the newspapers/ articles I do read, occasionally a 'celebrity' name will appear and I mutter, "Who the hell are they?" only to research them and find they're many-years-world-famous and/or a multi-billionaire, etc. It interests me people will sell every nano-second of their lives to the media, then get cross because they say they don't have any privacy.

Please: No one explain who the Kardashians are and how they might be related to a family called the Jenners. My ignorance is bliss! :D

I like people who do things for others without eagerly seeking the limelight and milking to death their status by appearing on endless adverts, etc. That doesn't mean I don't like certain actors, etc, but some of them seem to understand less-is-more and fewer appearances stop them from becoming public property. Clive Owen is cool and seems to manage his fame well.

Of the ones I have personally met, it is probably a toss up between Christopher Lloyd or Weird Al Yankovich. Both were very nice and answered questions gracefully even though they were being likely asked the same questions over and over again. DMC from Run-DMC is also up there as a good one to meet. He even rapped part of “Tricky” with one of my friends for fun.

I can't think of a favourite celebrity in the Tabloid press sense. I am fond of a few authors with modest name recognition, and I do admire Greta Thunberg.

Its an odd question. Few folks I know would ever admit to worshipping, or even to giving a damn at all, about celebrities. Ewwww...

But everyone has some number of well known figures who appear in the media whom they take some kind of an interest in.

And U Tube is blurring the divide between celebs and non celebs.

There are two young lady aspies who seperately do U tube channels about aspergers. They both happened to be hotties. So ...to me...both are frankly.. sex symbols! But neither would normally be thought of as "celebrities" though both have some characteristics of celebritydom - like being well known to large numbers of strangers who live thousands of miles away from them.

I don't know any celebrities either. Certainly not personally, and I hardly know anything about the images they project, don't know their names or what they're supposed to be good at. It was a bit different when I was younger, before I completely lost interest in the new ones that were coming up. I was fascinated with the Beatles. I've always thought they were a bit of an exception because they didn't fake very much, so I got the feeling I was finding out about the real people rather than some projected fantasy, especially later on when they stopped caring so much about what anybody thought about them. But as I found out more and grew up I saw more of their darker sides, and ended up still being interested and with some liking for them but not holding them aloft as any kind of great personality examples. There are probably a few more "stars" that said or did a few things that I admired, but I never found out enough to make me think I knew much about them.

I like ideas about celebrities sometimes, e.g. one big difference between the Beatles and Elvis was that Elvis did as he was told but the Beatles didn't. Sometimes the lyrics of the songs they write resonate with me. Like Neil Innes with his "Loneliness is all that people ever share, smuggling their pain through Nothing To Declare." But I don't know that he was ever really a celebrity. Most people have probably never heard of him, but the ones who like his stuff tend to like it a lot I think. And it's not got much to do with fame for me. I've read and heard stuff by unsigned artists that I like every bit as much as what the famous ones create.

Primarily local celebrities based in and around the Portland area, most of whom are journalists.
