Exactly.

A similar question is "How high is up?"  Both are rhetorical questions used to point out the futility of over-thinking.

It would be easier to say "I don't know" if asked a question where people reply "How long is a piece of string?" I just used that in a reply to a question on another forum, but I felt guilty as I was replying not actually knowing what I was replying even though it was an expected reply to a question like what was asked.
Then I felt guilty because it is not a reply that answers the question.
It was a question that I don't know the answer for.

The most interesting string I've read about is just a few milimeters long. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-52267383

Twice as long as half it's length.

Twice the distance from the middle to each end.
