After reading through the 'Random Discussion Forum' - many of us cannot help but ask where/how do we get ideas to post here in this forum.

The diversity of topics in this forum is astounding. I sense that reading and posting in the forum can be fun (sometimes amusing) exercises in writing about topics we normally "take for granted!"

Personally, I usually post in existing discussion threads in the 'Random Discussion Forum.' - The threads that recently piqued my interest:

* Smoke Alarms.

* Our local takeaways, or take-out or carry-out restaurants.

* Hot Weather Theory - esp. with the recent record breaking heat in regions not used to prolonged hot weather i.e., Western Europe, Alaska.

No particular reason for interest in these specific threads.

ADDENDUM: The 'Random Discussion Forum' seems like a rather interesting barometer; that is one indication of efforts to take our minds off of those heavier/complicated issues concerning the Autism Spectrum.

This idea for a discussion-thread developed because there were no discussion threads specializing in.........how ideas for posting in the 'Random Discussion Forum' originate.

An awesome approach for this discussion thread might be to write down the first things that "come to mind!"

I'll try to enumerate;
-Yes, what does come to mind.
-Whim.
-Moods.
-Something found.
-Something done.
-Something exposed at/from/by.
-Or as random as attempting to recreate the randompathy language.

This is an inadequate list.
I may as well keep yelling the word chocolate, have all of my other posts in chocolate metaphors, and post more chocolate pictures.
And chocolates aren't even my special interest. :o It's just something that came to my mind.

If there is a causal link, then please provide evidence for same.

CORRECTION - ADDENDUM: There was another discussion thread 'Where Do We Get Ideas To Post In The....Random Disc. Forum?' (LINK) from July, 2019 - that I had initiated. This previous thread might add important grist to the current discussion-thread:

Anybody have (of have had) those awesome creative-writing instructors in school?

This discussion thread is fitting for those creative-writing lessons retained over a lifetime - that is to write/edit readable content "on the fly" just as it comes to mind!

There are other similarly themed threads like "Anything Random to Say", and "Purple Monkey Dishwasher".

In order to avoid confusion, and a cumbersome disc. thread, it seems best to limit the number of responses to between two to three-dozen posts; in short, the limits can act as "a speed-bump of sorts."

The purpose of this thread can serve as an exercise to "break the ice" so to speak on expressing (often hard to express) insights!

Okay.

Just expound upon random stuff. To break the ice. Okay.

Well...I used to be an addict. Addicted to U tube videos about Bigfoot.

You watch vids of a certain topic, so Utube's algorythmns start feeding you more of that topic. And you get immersed into that topic. For awhile I was swamped in bigfoot. When every time you drive past woods you start to look for shadowy figures, or look for "X's", or even know what "X's" are, you know that you are too far gone.

Then I...had to face it, that this bigfoot obsession just wasnt productive. So I latched on to something that was like methadone treatment for heroin addiction. I started to watch vids about Jon Binet Ramsey, and was able to ween myself off of bigfoot. And now...I havent used either bigfoot videos or, Jon Binet Ramsey videos for some time.

I have posted silly topics here in the past and few of them were seen as bad so they would get locked.

My favorite one was "if you became Hitler" and the question was if you ruled the world and took over, who would you get rid of and members answered it but then said at the end "this is a terrible thread" after participating in it which was puzzling. Then at the end Alex locked it saying "this is not appropriate."

I mention this because there has been a recent talk about Nazism in the thread in the wrongplanet.net board and someone posting a photo of Hitler.

I looked at that thread again and I saw I got troll answers in it as well. That was because the thread was silly so I am pretty sure members in it were being silly as well and playing along.

Doesnt matter if folks gave in to temptation and posted in it, or were silly, or not. It IS a rather offensive way to construct a thread. I would have locked it too.

Memes. Countless of them.
Though, it may be more suited for WP Addicts Anonymous instead of just random forum as a whole.

Best suited in random; I think quotes do. I think semi-autism relevant stuff do. Maybe maybe foreign news and events.
Anything non-specified but otherwise a topic.

Not to mention a lot of special interest related stuff.

I think stuff that should've ended up in Haven.
But with less kiddy gloves, lesser response rates, and no hoarding since anyone could just barge in there senseless with a ton barrels of squirrels. Or had it moved.

UPDATE: The 'Random Disc. Forum' threads that piqued my interest in 2019 (threads listed above) differ from the threads that currently pique my interest.

Naturally, sentiments have changed greatly over the past year esp. with concerns over a pandemic. Three examples of current threads of personal interest:

* The Role of the Skeptic.

* Did You Love Lego as a Child?

* Are You Tired of This Virus?

Any specific threads in the 'Random Disc. Forum' that pique interest?
