Is anyone else handing out candy this year or not? Anyone still going to take their kids trick or treating or not?

I have no idea if Halloween will be cancelled but I heard from my aunt that many of her neighbors will not be giving out candy this year. So she made some trick or treat goody bags for some kids, some for her neighbor's kids and then she came over to our house and gave my kids theirs.

Then I get home from work and I see we got a package and it was from my brother and his wife from Montana. But it was addressed to our kids so I open it and it's more candy so I put it on the hutch.

So basically trick or treating is coming to us. But my husband thinks we shall just buy ourselves a bag of candy and give to our kids and stay home and watch a Halloween film and they can wear their costumes.

If not canceled then at least downgraded.

Halloween was never celebrated on larger scale here.
The All Saints Day that is traditionally celebrated on cementaries got officially canceled just yesterday - imagine all the money sunk by flower stalls owners :/

I'm in student halls and we're not allowed to visit other flats, so technically even if I wanted to trick or treat, I can't within the building. Based on the windows, most haven't bothered with decorating this year. I'm currently away from my parents, so we have weekly video calls where we each put together trivia quizzes and ask each other the questions. Today I have a call scheduled so I think I'll make my quiz Halloween focused. Other than that, I'm not really doing anything for Halloween. I'm mostly just working. Perhaps I'll watch a cheesy Halloween movie, I don't tend to watch actual horror and prefer supernatural and spooky / goofy rather than nightmare fuel. Unless it's framed as a mystery, then maybe, I'm just not a fan of films that rely solely on shock factor.

Admittedly I don't have any sweets or chocolates in, however I do have some bread and butter pudding, which granted is probably more of a Christmas item but it's good enough for me.

No trick or treating here(wasn’t celebrated in Australia when I was there, though is now.)
Here, there are usually plenty of trick or treaters, and I did see a family out trick or treating this afternoon, but clearly they were only dressed in costume to visit family, as they seemed to be popping in to visit one family only, and very briefly, before being picked up and driven off.

Is it pumpkin posting time yet?

My kids decided to not go out because my son is terrified of the virus and we stopped at The Dollar Tree and got candy and sweets and they munched on them. My son picked some alien film. They decided to not wear their costumes.

Grandkids were out trick or treating. They were happy. But a few people gave out small bottles of hand sanitizer than the traditional candy.

For a kid that would be disappointing

I was surprised but it was pretty busy here, busier than the last few years in fact. I just spread out the candies on a table and chair and said to them trick or treat through a closed door.

There were some kids trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. We weren’t handing out candy, probably in large part because I have a weakened immune system from chemo, but we still had somebody come to our door.

Not really a great pandemic idea because everyone would be reaching into the same bowl, but what I thought of just so I wouldn’t have to interact with so many people is to set out a bowl of candy along with a sign asking everyone to take three pieces, and I would dress up, watch through the window, and jump out and scare anyone who tried to take more than their share.

Yeah, I would give out hand sanitizer with some candy.

Not only was it a full moon this Halloween, it was also a blue moon.

I stayed out in the pumpkin patch as usual.

It was not the pandemic that cancelled any celebrations here for most part.

It was the storm.
But that didn't stopped everyone.
