It's not that everyone named "Karen" is a Karen, but the name has become a shorthand for the sort of character described.
The charactor description is corrupt and unfair,so an middle class white woman stands up for herself and somehow deserves to be called a slur.
Dude you are so missing the point. Did you read the part about Karen being "entitled"? Like the kind of person who complains about minor problems with customer service, and may possibly get someone fired by speaking with the manager.
It's selfish and insensitive to endanger people's jobs, especially low-wage jobs, because the waiter forgot the ketchup or something. But Karen probably isn't thinking about this because she's, among other things, middle-class and therefore out of touch with the potential financial insecurity and job fatigue of the workers she's complaining about.
Both white privilege and class privilege
tend to make people feel entitled. That's why Karen is described as a white, middle-class women. Lots of people who are not privileged in those ways would not expect the manager to care about their complaints or would not themselves care to complain about minor customer service issues.
I'm not saying the meme is totally fair or accurate, it's partially based on stereotypes (not all class-privileged people are as*holes), but the type of person being described as Karen is not just a completely innocent person who is being unfairly bashed.
I personally spent years in the restaurant business and I if anyone know how hard it can be.But I think that a complaint is reasonable if one gets bad service, and no one ever gets fired for forgetting the ketchup, managers aren't that stupid.
There isn't a waiter/waitress or delivery driver that never forgot something, the number one reason people get fired in the restaurant business is no call/no show, they blow off work in other words. So called Karen's never get anyone fired, when a lot of customer service mistakes happen it's usually very busy and mangers understand that.
It's paranoia to think slightly over sensitive female customer are responsible for mass firings, I worked in the restaurant biz for years and it simply doesn't happen.
