Do you have an aesthetic you like? If so, what is it?
I love long, flowing things, deep blue, sparkles, the stars, and the void.

Yes but cos of touch sensitivity I struggle to wear it. I dress like a chav (or at best like a prep): letterman jackets & tracksuits. Suits, trousers, waistcoats etc aren't comfortable & I see no reason to dress up for family.

Dark Academia.

It was my life before I knew it's a recognised aesthetic. Finding out that it is felt like a bit of a 'calling', like something had been invented around me rather than me shaping myself to it.

I live in an old town with beautiful architecture. My house is Edwardian and I plan on buying period furniture for it & putting down wood floors. (Some has been done already).

My life is devoted to study. I'm on ESA. I learn well but don't work well: mostly due to workplace requirements like 'soft skills' and even 'taking a break'. Instead, I spend most of my time in creating things, researching beautiful art and reading books. The internet distracts me somewhat which is why I'm on here quite a bit, but mostly if I'm up and it's between 9 and 5, I'm studying or creating.

Then in the evenings, I watch dark, mostly dark aesthetic, stuff on the television.

I didn't know there was a term for it until this month. For a love of the old fashioned, a love of study, a love (in the most aesthetic way: I don't want to hurt others or be hurt myself irl...) for the dark sides of life - in terms of what art is created, what books read, what tv and movies watched.

If you were a cis-woman.....I believe you would be close to my type....

I do have an "aesthetic sense," I do believe.

I believe in transcending what is "plainly real."

My problem, really, is that I don't like putting in the hard work to really decorate my home in an "aesthetically pleasing" way. I'm content with having a mattress on the floor, maybe a dining room table, a few chairs, a couch. Simple things.

If I were living in Edwardian times, I would really be an outlier....

And women who are strongly into the "aesthetics of the home" would be turned off to me----because I would talk about "why make such a fuss?" when "making a fuss" is of the utmost importance to her.

I really like the Baroque....but I get a headache from it from going broke from it :P

I like Cottagecore (along with Fairycore) and Light Academia. Personally I think the two styles overlap. Essentially you could describe the vibe I'm going for as 'Tucked away library room where I research topics into the evening in a cottage'.

Flowers, crystals, books, drawing in a sketchbook in a scenic village. Sepia filters. Turtlenecks. Muted colours combined with a metallic colour - such as silver. Herbal tea.

Never chosen any.

Maybe someday I would. As soon as I mastered sewing.

Victorian collars, oval brooches with girl portraits, angelic beige colors, angel 3 shaped collars with pearl beads and lace. Chained small purses, finesse.

Thin dog collars with hanging gems, black lace tall chokers, bells, broken fancy phone chords wrapped around my neck for a futuristic look, chains and dark pearls, crosses, thin waist marker belts or chain belts. Platform sandals and boots.

Twin buns, headbands always feel gay so yay. Sometimes hair tied with a ribbon instead. Lazy\messy coiffures.
Braids on two-tone hair.

Large dresses\long cotton shirts with sports shoes. Sunglasses on head make for a quick fresh hairstyle. See through overvests with hoodies. Thick gold chains with little hanging pendants such as a rose. Tight shorts that hug the legs with loose sleeveless shirts. Tight fitting undervests with high-waist things that cover writings such as 'how orange are ...'

GAY written in letters with flowers in between on my pendants. Sometimes Mean, Merry or Airy.

Watches with flower designs on the face, and rainbow\near rainbow colorful crocheted wristband, really good for metal allergies and fancier than common gay stuff, not like I can find pride stuff here, anyway.

I definitely have an aesthetic when it comes to engineering and architecture.

I am hopeless at coordinating interior design, though.

Fashion-wise it's a tussle between ASD comfort / laziness / familiarity and an ADHD desire for bright colours and shock value.

I like having a uniform code to rebel against, by exploiting loopholes. My absolute favourite was a 3-month running battle with one particular Head Office who refused to allow me to wear (smart) shorts in summer, despite the fact it was a horrendously hot building and I sometimes suffer from hyperhidrosis as a result of long term diabetes. That resulted in me wearing ghastly hawaiian shirts and equally ghastly, clashing, punk plaid / tartan 3/4 length trousers, clashing socks and green DMs for several weeks. Didn't go down well but I was fully compliant with the company dress code.

In the end they bought me a fan, which didn't actually help much but it was a positive gesture so I backed off a bit.

Zipper stuff like this is amazing for cleavage

Besides the shape it forms if it's a little tight like in the 2nd image, if you slide the zipper low above the navel you can show the most amazing rib unification shape below the breasts.

I think my step-sister would be your type, unfortunately she's taken. She's like 'girl me' or '40 something me'. I haven't seen her in years but when I do see her we get into conversations on literature, mostly.

And I think deep platonic friendships are more worth valuing than society does at present. I feel like we 'connect' in that way.

A while ago you said I don't look down on people due to my MA. In a way that's true. I see people like you - learned autodidacts - as worthy of respect. You're amazing in how much you know tbh.

I have little time though for anti-intellectual types esp when it's not due to disability but simple laziness/cool status. I've been around it too much and it's even held back my education: all of them NTs who thought it fun to ask questions they already knew the answers to just so that they didn't 'have' to learn anything new :( . Learning new stuff in my favourite subjects is fun to me, rehearing stuff I knew when I was 7 isn't.

The furniture thing is just about £££/$$$. The actual effort involved is having the taste/doing the research to find authentic pieces. The rest is just putting the dollar/pound down at the auction house or antique shop.

I think a librarian would be your type but idk if that's (staff dating) frowned upon within libraries? (Also I can't remember if you're divorced or married, if you're married ignore this advice lol)

What upsets my aesthetics is: my mum (and I, but I didn't choose it) used to live in an IKEA stacked house. It was exactly the same as her friends' houses except in shape. She did it because '00s home decor shows recommended it - that way when you sell the house, they can imagine their own stamp on the house. Not even allowed photos on the wall and this was before facebook so all our photos were in albums :( I see it as a 'show home' way to live rather than a 'home' way to live. Far too generic outside of a show home.

She has her 'forever home' now and she stacks it with rural prints, Rob Ryan etc. I think a bit cottage core? And a bit her own thing. Her kitchen looks like an ice cream parlour, she even has pottery ice-creams which she made herself.

I am a person who believes in deep Platonic friendships in general.

I believe sex is lovely.....but it’s certainly not the ONLY thing. With me, a loving relationship must involve something much more than sex. I’m a “demisexual” type.

Indeed, it would be frowned upon should I seek to romance a co-worker in the library where I work. Less so in my court job, though it’s still something that one must be careful with. Even if I were single.

I’m married. My wife’s son is very much into IKEA. I can’t stand the place. It’s a maze to get out of there once you get in.

Thanks for the compliment :)

Lumping my response to this in with your latest post.
Aww, thanks for the compliment. I wasn't aware that you were a demisexual! It's OK that you don't have a strong home aesthetic sense - not everyone does. I can see why those like me look fussy from the outside lol. To an extent we are. I love that you recognise platonic relationships too, that's rare to see.

Oh totally. I love goth aesthetics, not the really punk looking stuff, or some other looks that just seem like an exercise in being as extreme as possible to the point of absurdity. But generally I love it. I wish I had the guts to do it myself, I would probably take a little more care for my appearance. But I feel like I would go into a whole androgynous look that I'm not confident enough to pull off. Not yet anyway. I've always found dark and moody stuff pretty cathartic and love, say, vampire stories. I just wear jeans and a t-shirt every day. I guess my hair is longer than most guys, but otherwise I blend in with a crowd real easy.

I was so confused looking at the title before I clicked it, wondering what it could possibly even mean to "have an anesthetic"...

If you mean with the clothes that I wear, then I'm a massive disappointment at that. I go for "bland" and "forgettable". Not drawing attention to myself is too much of a priority for me to risk making any "statement" with what I wear (intentional or unintentional).

Also, I'm a cheapskate. And I'm lazy with these things. But if I weren't, I would probably decorate my space following some kind of theme that would reflect the spirit of this image:

I just love everything about it.
