I make $3,000 a month as a bus driver for Razorback Transit..
Healthcare is paid for by the University that owns razorback Transit
I make an extra $1800 a month driving for Uber and Lyft...
I don't need any other benefit from Uber and Lyft because my healthcare comes from my bus driving job

That is $4800 a month I earn, total
There is nothing more I can do.

That's $57,600 a year.
And I can live very well here on JUST my bus job for $36,000 a year.

57,600 a year is about $27.50 an hour.

That's $20.25 an hour's MORE than the federal minimum wage.

That's $18.25 an hour MORE than the Arkansas Minimum wage.

That's $12.50 MORE than Bernie Sanders campaign offerings for a minimum wage, AND also New Yorks plan for their NEW minimum wage.

That is also $15.50 an Hour MORE than California's minimum wage.

That is also about $1,800 a month total income..
MORE than can be collected by a Social Security Retirement, MAXIMUM check.

:)

I get my healthcare from Blue Cross and Blue Shield, top package, Health, Dental and Vision..

I get healthcare services from the #1 best provider in this area of the country, and the 5th best total in America..
Mercy Health System.

I live in a community, while cannot be called one of the safest communities in America for TOTAL crime....

The crime is mostly property crime and theft.

I AM, thousands of times safer from murder, Robbery and gang and drug crimes..
Than I am in Philadelphia, PA.

Harassment and abuse, the kinds of crimes that cause mental illness, is very rare here.

I am NOT extremely safe from burglary..
Again, that's a property crime..

There are ways to protect from that kind of stuff.

And that's also the kinds of crimes that exist in MOST northeastern suburbs.

Now, there is nothing more that I can do.

So why do I get ragged on because of my job...
That I do, also with Asperger syndrome, and a much less than appealing past ?

If anybody insults the job that you do, tell them to eat worms.

How easy is it to get those jobs in USA? I mean, you definitely need the proper driver's license, but is that it? If so then that could be the reason; people tend to appreciate it more when someone's clearly but lots of effort in to getting the education that qualifies them for a certain job.

Still, just let it get in from one ear and out the other. Bus drivers are important; if they weren't, no company would bother paying them that much.

It's a major urban job, and one of the most iconic in American cities.

since you're earning decently-ish i suppose
(get on the ramsey- haha what's your household income)
i mean , get intentional, have a goal (eg better area) and work to the future
don't let the past & hurt keep you in a rotten place (mentally)

Before I criticize your math by assuming you've made an error: How many hours/week or hours/month do you work driving bus? How many hours/week or hours/month do you work driving for Uber and/or Lyft? And are these figures all Gross? (I assume so, vs. Net.)

Because people like to do a thing a friend of mine calls "Push down, pop up." They belittle people in occupations they see as being "beneath," them and their socioeconomic status. It reinforces in their own mind that they are superior in their role in the economy, that they are somehow smarter or better than you, more valuable than you. This is often the case for service jobs whether drivers or waitresses. Meanwhile, many of the people that do that don't have a clue that you're working extra hours and earn $57,600 gross/year - they may assume you're a $25k/year earner or whatever and base their rudeness on that.

It's ironic that sometimes the people looking down on garbage truck drivers are making $23/hour at their office job while the garbage truck driver is making $30-35/hr. Same for the office workers making $27/hr looking down on a construcion tradesman making wages & benefits of $45-50/hr+ - but he's just a lowly know nothing grunt.. lol - who's the idiot? Not the tradesman with a bigger home, nicer truck, more financial stability and retirement investments who is better able to provide for his family. Sooooo, who cares what people think? Just drive along and cash your cheques. 8)

Also, while these things apply in general to driving and service jobs, there is Also the possibility that you're behaviour as an Aspie might simply make you a target for bullying so people do it to you just because they perceive you as a weak meek target and like to flex their "strength," for their mouthbreathing knuckle dragging friends to get a kick out of. Not a whole lot you can do about that besides carry on doing your thing and stacking cash that they don't even realize you're earning. 8)

sounds like your doing pretty good, who cares what all the narcissistic nobs say
what ever you do in this life
there will always be people who find fault with you

Perhaps its their nature

Don't worry about them
concentrate on being happy regardless as to what twats they are

i always say
doesn't matter if a douche bag becomes king or a billionaire
a douche bag is still a douche bag

no matter how successful a person becomes in life materially

does not balance out what they have done to get what they have
or the disgusting things they have done in their lives
or the way they live their lives

be good be happy
enjoy

i am sure you are appreciated by your customers

Your job and income and safety seem fine, and you can't do anything else as you said. We need people like bus drivers. I wouldn't mock you.

I totally agree with Goldfish... It's so much easier to belittle someone than to examine your own foibles (weaknesses). Think of it like this, the people who complain so bitterly about cheap wine are the ones who can never pay off their credit card bills. That is to say, they live beyond their means and to rationalize what they're doing, they project their own crap onto you, dehumanizing you so they feel better about themselves :skull:

It's hard, but try not to take it personally

Any person who is legally employed in a lawful profession is deserving of respect, unless they abuse the authority of that profession (i.e, embezzlement, favoritism, white-collar crime), and/or incite others to commit unlawful acts.
