A quick glance out the window and one might think grey skies mean it’s going to rain soon.

No. The Sun is red. Those aren’t clouds. It’s forest fire smoke filling the skies again.

It’s only rained here once in the last 7 weeks or so - a few sprinkles over a few hours one early morning a week or so ago. I live in a rainforest. This isn’t right - something’s fucky.

This is no longer 1970’s thoughts of climate change. This is now a climate crisis - and it’s only going to get worse. I was told it takes 15 years for fossil fuel emissions to reach the upper atmosphere and have an effect on us down here - so what we’re experiencing now is from the damage we did in 2006.. and since we’ve known better for so long, you think we’ve cut emissions drastically in the last 15 years? Nope! We’ve accelerated burning of fossil fuels like crazy. Even if we stop burning everything right now today, at least the next 15 years are going to get WILD. Reality is people are stupid and things are going to get much, MUCH, worse.

Happy Friday the 13th, I guess.

Well, at least we're getting some amazing sunsets as the world ends.

There’s ash all over my car. Probably best I don’t ride my motorcycle in this and avoid breathing it in as much as possible..

Yeah, it's a health hazard. My friend's daughter lives in San Francisco. During the previous round of wildfires, she sent me pictures her daughter had taken in the late morning. It was about as dark as ten minutes after sunset.

Where I am it looks like it's slightly overcast, but if you look into the distance you can tell there's just a light smoky haze over everything. The sun isn't really red, but it's still horrible. It's been like this off and on. The smoke from fires in other areas keep coming here, and there's so many of them that now it's just normal to occasionally have this happen.

Edit: We also haven't had much rain at all since maybe May? It's been so long and this is so out of character for my area that I can't remember. There's been some light sprinkles since then, but they don't last long. I live in an area that's known for being constantly rainy. :(

:(

If only we had ~8 Billion humans to mobilize to put out forest fires and then re-plant trees and other plants asap in order to regrow new forests in burnt out areas asap..

Even if it wasn't a all hands-on-deck civilian effort and only used trained people able to handle any terrain or climate, to to work together systematically, to form allegiances and alliances to work towards common goals.. yes, I mean the world's militaries should stop shooting each other and start working together to combat the climate crisis that's upon us. That's literally the level of mobilization scientists have been telling us for a handful of years now is required.. a WW2 level mobilization, our entire economies changed over not for a military war effort, but for a survival of our species one.

The soil is the digestive system of the planet. The planet is a living interconnected organism. How can you have healthy plants and animals without healthy soil. Food is information. Humans can only be as healthy as the plants and animals he consumes. I don't believe this can be synthetically replicated in a lab, a process which has been part of a closed organic system since the dawn of time in nature. As far as I can tell Nutrition is the study of soil science and we have destroyed the soil. I believe Weston Price documented this in his book 'Nutrition and Physical Degeneration A Comparison of Primitive and Modern Diets and Their Effects' The effects are clear to see with pure observation. Modern man doesn't have clue how to feed himself anymore to produce health and vitality. Not even close. Artificial intelligence bees, synthetic fertilisers and GMO everything will never replicate the way nature has always produced food. Pure stupidity in my opinion. My two cents.

goldfish I read somewhere on here recently and I couldn't find the information in one specific place, your own personal experience with healing your gut. If you have the time would you be able to post the links to the studies and how you went about it please. I'm currently working with a naturopath and wouldn't mind asking them their thoughts on the subject. I can start a thread on gut health if you would like to post it their instead of possibly hijacking this thread? I understand you don't know me but I would really appreciate it if you have the time. If not no worries.

“All disease begins in the gut” It's a quote attributed to the Ancient Greek physician Hippocrates nearly 2500 years ago. Well he wasn't far off. Every time we eat or drink or expose ourselves to chemicals and hormones, we are either feeding disease or fighting it! I'm sure you've heard this before.

Hope you get some rain soon.

This does not make for a very promising future for our planet. There won't even be an Earth in 20 years time. There's one bright side to this. Once the world ends, I will no longer have to justify my gender identity.

People need to read the book "The Secret Life of Plants." It's amaaaazing. And also to listen to the knowledge from Indigenous people on how to manage land and food sources - they've been passing this information down via oral history for eons. Sure, colonial invaders murdered most of them, But there are still descendants here to learn from.

I'm a busy man between helping my friend with his business and my brother with his renovation, but this is a topic I Make Time for. I'll PM.

Yeah, heard that. There's another quote about wolves and the one you feed that's not all that dissimilar:

Image

While it's not exactly literally about disease or food, I feel it's about the ~same same thought process. 8)

And thanks! Yes, we do need rain - it might rain Tuesday! It's going to be 8C cooler than today and HOPEFULLY it rains. Everything is crispy dry and we're at a 4/5 drought level - almost never heard of here. Crazy.

Some towns/areas have already been evacuated. Many others, including entire cities, are on evacuation alert - must be ready to leave town at a moments notice and head in whatever direction they’re instructed to.

Finally we have rain clouds in the skies here.. supposed to maybe rain tmw. But what we really need is for the entire Province to have a complete downpour for a week or two.

Last I heard there are 3,300 fire fighters from BC, across Canada, and around the world battling blazes here. 100 something helicopters and 200-300 planes. Still not nearly enough and I Think they’re talking controlled burn plans to scorch some break lines in order to contain future fires easier.

Meanwhile, in Russia, I saw a news clip that says their wildfires are too big and expensive to put out so they’re just letting them burn. We’re going to lose a massive amount of oxygen generating forests this year. :/

Our Spring was really, really dry, but Summer has been pretty rainy. We just had a huge storm for two days, that knocked out power all over the state.

The power company is apologizing by giving out free tickets to the zoo o_O
