Absolutely, but the people who have such a strong impact world wide that they can be said to have changed the whole world are rare. And I think it's those who change it for worse whose names will be likelier to be remembered.

Some would say that Jesus of Nazareth changed the world; but has it changed for the better?  That is debatable.

I would guess probably not entirely independently. By being the original source of something then picked up in some fashion by others, certainly. For example, could Adolf Hitler have done what he did without any supporters or anybody assisting him? Certainly at least not to such a scale. So I would say that one person alone absolutely can be the initial cause of world change, but probably could not significantly change the entire world completely alone. But I stand by my guideline of not entirely ruling anything out as one hundred percent truly impossible.

Here's a quote by Barack Obama

Quote:
One voice can change a room, and if one voice can change a room, then it can change a city, and if it can change a city, it can change a state, and if it change a state, it can change a nation, and if it can change a nation, it can change the world. Your voice can change the world.

It's at about 1;47
