My brother and I had them. They came in pairs so he had one and I had the other. They used to climb my parents old large canvas ridgetent and back down the other side. It was quite a large tent which stood about 15-20 ft high so the angle of climb and descent was pretty severe for them to do that, and powered by a single AA (Used to be known as a HP7) battery.
Here are more details. The competition came out a few years later and had a gear stick on the roof with high and low gears, but they did not climb like the origional Stompers as Stompers had lovely foam tyres, while the competition had rubber.
I have no idea if the lorry versions were 6 wheel drive or not. Never had one as they cost a lot and were hard to get.

Here is one of the best examples of one of the origional Stompers in action. They only had an on and off switch underneath. They did not steer. They just went forwards. See what it can climb.
