Your earliest remembered memory - what is it? Are you able to locate it in time, to say how old you were then?

I have one memory whose reality I'm unsure because if it's real I must have been very little then. Now it's rather faded or at least not so vivid like several years ago but it SEEMS to be real, not taken from TV - the image of a row of cribs for very young children, like in hospital or similar place. For many years I thought this memory to have came from time when I was born (I had read somewhere that there were observed extremely rare cases of people being able to remember the very moment when their mothers gave birth to them). When I was 10 months old I had to have a small medical procedure because there was something wrong about my eye so maybe that memory comes from that time but on the other hand according to my mom's words I didn't spend there even a night because I was taken home by her after it so I don't know myself...

Memories whose reality I'm sure come from time when I was almost 3. I remember for instance when I turned over the christmas tree while picking a long hanging candy and most glass balls were broken. I can also recall some people who lived in the same place - my mother and I lived in a hotel prepared specially for the workers of my mom's workplace until I was 3,5: a boy who was my peer, a young girl of 14 whose name was Mirka and who used to draw horses on a sheet of paper to please me and the old lady who often took care of me when my mother had something else to do.

The most vivid one also comes from the times when I couldn't be more than 3,5 - it was the time of communism in my country, the shops were empty and people had to queue when they wanted to buy something and even then they couldn't be sure whether there would be enough goods in stock for everybody (in Poland that time is popularly called a time when there was only vinegar on the shelves of shops - I saw one such photo in my history textbook and it really impressed me). So one day my mother came out very early to buy something to eat and when I awake I was alone in the room. I remember it as if it happened yesterday: I was sitting on bed, bored. I was waiting for mother to dress me. I even didn't think I could dress myself, I was completely passive because I was so got used to be dressed by my mother.

Well, I remember standing up in my crib, screaming for them to let me out, but no one seemed to hear me so I climbed out of it. My sister freaked, picked me up, and put me back in. I sat there, angry, rocking.

Another vivid memory from when I was little was sitting outside playing with the waterhose. I loved to watch the water stream slowly out of the hose, and get wet in hot days while I moved the waterhose side to side and watched the water just pour on out.

My earliest memory from childhood is of watching The Rockford Files on television while I drank a bottle of Miller High Life Beer and smoked a Kool Filter King. Ah, those were the days…

My earliest memory isn't a happy one.
It was when I had an ear infection, I think I was about 5.

Did you see the one where the guy used 20 pounds of plastic explosives to penetrate a safe but that was enough explosives to level the building. :)

I don't remember that one but The Rockford Files was a great show. I just bought the first season on DVD and I am enjoying it greatly! I had a huge crush on Gretchen Corbett who played Beth Davenport, Rockford's attorney.

My first memory is my second day of school. My first day was unmemorable, because at the time it was something I thought I would do once and then never do again. When I realised that I was being put there again, and would be going back again the next day, I screamed and wouldn't let my mother leave. I stayed like that until somebody found me a book on dinosaurs, and then I calmed down almost instantly :)

My earliest memory is from when I was 3. My older sister and I played farmer and cow. She was the farmer and I was the cow, and she made me eat grass! :(

I remember when I was 3 and Mum told us she was pregnant. I think I asked nearly every day for 6 months, 'Is the baby coming today?'

I was in my grandfather's veranda and there was an aunt of mine breast feeding his child. I remember the naked breast. Only years later I saw once my mother's breast by chance, but she did non breast fed me.

I remember my city decorated with red drapes fo the visit of Hitler.

My earliest "memory" isn't so much of a memory, perhaps. At the age of three, I was choked quite severly. While I don't actually remember it, I'm still extremely aware of that; running out of air is my biggest fear, and I'll back away if someone puts their hands near my neck.

My next earliest memory was also at the age of three; I was in preschool, and the teacher had a birthday. Another teacher came in and wished her a happy birthday. At first, none of us believed them - every preschooler knows that teachers don't have lives outuside school! Then we sang to her.
