Anyone know any good 'paradoxes'? Concepts like, ' He who wants peace, let him prepare for war' and 'You've got to be cruel to be kind'
I like them 'coz they only make sense in their own way......

It's not a saying but it's a paradox that war-torn Iraq is actually the 'cradle of civilisation',from the days when it was ancient Mesopotamia.

Why? War is the main motivator to unify people into a bigger group and develop new technology. Groups of people that develop better technology than those around them make a civilization.

Existence is a paradox.

First there was nothing. Then it exploded. Then the universe exists.

Something from nothing.

Not nessissarily, r u farmiliar with a singularity? Its the "core" of a black whole. The universe prior to the big bang logically had to be a singularity, a super black whole. How it exploded, or how black wholes die, is a very complex theory, but to solve that riddle is to solve the big bang. membrain theory is also plausible, and if this is correct, then their are most likly an infinite amount of universes, again, complex theory.

I like time travel paradoxes.

I remember I read "All You Zombies" a while ago, very good.

This is more of an example of irony than paradox IMO.

Paradox:

Most current experts agree autism and aspergers are either genetic or have a strong genetic aspect.

People on the autistic spectrum have the odds stacked against us when it comes to dating.

How come we're not extinct? :?

Michael Bay is a far more popular director than Stanley Kubrick.

Interseting posts. Got me thinking, is E=MC2 a kind of paradox? I mean, mass when torn apart releass energy, then theoretically, energy when compressed wil form mass. Like a match, when it burns releses heat/light energy, but afterwards, much of its own mass is gone.... So energy is mass, and mass energy?
