A relatively small car by North American standards. 2013 Dodge Dart 4cyl 6spd.

Anyways, previously I think the most I ever paid was $93-95/tank. Today I was Very Low on fuel and topped off right to the top of the filler neck like I usually do.. and at 195.9/L (cheaper than it was a couple days ago up over $2) the grand total came to… $127.00.

That’s quite a lot. I don’t even drive all that much (IMO - not like I used to.. rarely drive downtown for anything, work is a short commute only 12-13mins) and gas is likely going to run $400-500/mo. Add in any longer drives, day trips, and filling up my motorcycle with 94 octane premium and it’ll easily hit $600-700. Make a few trips to Squamish to go kiteboarding and I bet it could be $800-900.

Thankfully I’ve had no interest in wasting money and murdering the environment by driving a full size truck around all the time - easy way to spend ~2 grand a month on gas. (Or to not be able to afford to go anywhere.)

Beau of the Fifth made a good point in a video the other day.. that everyone needs to drive less in order to lower demand and keep prices down as much as possible. Carpool, plan trips better, walk/bicycle short trips etc. Still not sure if my driving habits will change much, if any, tbh, as I already tend to drive mostly when I Need to vs just Want to. At least my drives to the beach are at ~30mpg vs small penis truck fuel consumption.
