I was told in science back in school that humans walked upright from chimpanzees in Africa millions of years ago.

Do you think there some truth to this or not?

Humans didn't evolve from chimpanzees; they evolved from other apes who were similar to chimpanzees.

We do share most of our DNA with chimps. Also did you know that the polar bear evolved from the brown the bear during the ice age.

Kraftie is correct. We share an ancestor with chimpanzees, but we didn't evolve from them.

It's honestly pretty cool that we're that closely related to them.

Humans, chimps and bonobos are each other's closest relatives. We didn't literally descend from chimps, them and us both descended from an earlier ape.

Chimps also have wisdom teeth to.

Honestly if the polar bear evolved from the brown bear I see no reason why humans did not evolve from chimps

Well, chimpanzees hadn't evolved yet either so there were no chimps for us to evolve from, only the shared ancestor of humans and chimps.

I cant resist posting this clip of the King Of The Hill Halloween ep with the religious haunted house that shows the "horror" of evolution actually existing :lmao:

Humans and chimpanzees are closely related, but humans did not descend from chimpanzees. Humans and chimpanzees have a common ancestor.

Yes, we evolved.

What I don't get is why only humans have evolved into an advanced society yet cats have been around for like 10,000 years and are still cats today. Or all the other animals that have been around thousands of years.

How come the dinosaurs didn't evolve into something else for all the millions of years they ruled the Earth?

Every creature evolves....it's just that none of them have evolved into humans---except those descended from the early Great Apes.

Dinosaurs were very different during the Jurassic and Crustaceous Eras. T-Rex only lived during the Crustaceous, for example. Some dinosaurs evolved into birds.

Today my brother was showing me his new watch and all these "amazing" things it can do, like keeping track of how much he's walked, his heart rate, and how many calories he's burned and other stuff.

The devices keep getting smarter but the humans keep getting dumber. I think humans are devolving. Soon there will be genius phones that can write a 500 page book better than the best human authors in only 30 seconds, but humans will be too busy dragging their knuckles on the ground to read it. In fact, adult humans won't be able to read or write anything longer than two or three letters.

Yep I agree. We have devolved from much superior beings.

Actually scientists think some dinosaurs did evolve like the T rex became lizards today.
