Am I trying to compare myself to others ?
I seem to feel as though I'm trying to compare myself to other people because I feel that if I am not doing the things that people our age should be doing such as going out and meeting new people, partying, having a drink in a bar, having a nice job and being successful and so on, it then seems like a life and time wasted. Even though at the same time a part of me is saying and other people have said that if try too often to do things other people are doing even though I don't like them much, I'll end up feeling like I've wasted my time NOT doing the things I actually really wanted to do.

1. We're still in a global pandemic. People aren't supposed to be doing most of those things right now, anyways.
2. Find a balance. Try doing some of the "societal norm," things and see if you enjoy them, if they yield benefits & value in your life - but Also don't worry what other people are doing and do the things You like to do vs. force yourself to do things you feel are "expected," of you that you don't enjoy at the expense of doing things you truly want to. And if you truly don't care for any of those "normie," things and Want to spend your time differently, go ahead. It's only you you have to answer to in the end.

First I want to say; comparing oneself to their peers is a completely understandable situation, and like anything it can be healthy in moderation or unhealthy if taken too far. These are certainly feelings I have had in the past, and I find it helpful to fall back into goal-based thinking. What are your goals?
-- Do you have physical goals? Do you want to lose weight? Gain weight? Get better at your favorite sport? Run 10 miles? Climb a mountain? Quit smoking?
-- Do you have intellectual goals? Are you in school and want to get good grades? Do you want to learn about something? Expand your vocabulary? Creativity? Trivia? Learn to paint? Read a certain number of new books every month? Get a PHD?
-- Do you have social goals? Want to meet new interesting people? Make new friends? Want to work on being a better friend to someone you already care for? Are you a parent? Want to be more involved in your kids? Or maybe you're a kid that want's to form a better relationship with a parent? Do you want to start dating?
-- Do you have goals about having fun? A goal to watch a whole series on Netflix? A goal to be the first one at your favorite amusement park when it opens back up? Play every videogame from a certain publisher? Be the GM at your local DnD group? Eat a new county's food every day?
These are just some I brainstormed. Try it out, see what you want out of life, make a list. And try to make some progress on at least one of your goals each day. And if you have a day where you don't think you made any progress on a goal, don't sweat it! Everyone needs some time off to chill, and some need more than others. I hope that gave you some ideas! Cheers.
