Are people not allowed to have PayPal on SSI? I don’t understand why people can’t invest money, people can still work to earn money.

You can use PayPal while on SSI. I got my PayPal account after I got on SSI & then got a PayPal credit card while on SSI. You can buy stuff using PayPal but your not supposed to receive money through PayPal like selling stuff on eBay. If you invest money while on SSI they will consider it a resource & any profit you make will be considered unearned income. SSI is a program designed for dirt-poor disableds who haven't earned enough from work to qualify for Social Security or Social Security Disability. SSI figures that if you have the money to invest, you don't need to collect SSI since you already have some money. You can work while on SSI because they want to encourage people to become independent & get off the program. Plus while you work you are paying taxes on your income including Social Security tax. Your employer also pays about the same amount into your Social Security that you pay from your tax. You & your employer both pay about just over 7% of your work income. So basically you & your employer are paying about 15% total back into the Social Security system while you work.

IIRC, there's an asset cap while you're on the program, like you're only allowed to have so much money in your savings accounts, but I don't think that translates to being unable to use Paypal, so long as you're not trying to hide assets there. I'm not a lawyer and it's been a long time since I looked into this stuff, but that's my recollection.
