British Potato Chips...

Upon reading a selection from Augusten Burrough's Possible Side Effects I discovered the allure of British potato chips. Apparently, they come in a much larger and more gourmet variety then the silly American chips.

Please discuss!

are we talking crisps (ie potato chips) or chips (as in french fries)?

"They" make a new gourmet chip with specialty spices now, I think by Nalleys. Oh, I am an American (an Alaskan actually, which is different!). But anyway, I should be specific: CRISPS. Not chips as in fried potatoes, known as French Fries in the US. Plus, they make "crips" here that are prepared not with trans fat and are therefore healthier. Have you ever made your own in the oven? It's easy and then you can add whatever spices you like:

I like sweet potatoes (yams): SWEET POTATO FRIES

Slice sweet potatoes and mist with olive oil (or PAM spray). Sprinkle with seasoned salt, herbs, etc. Bake at 400 degrees F for 40 minutes, or until crispy.


Try this recipe, very good.

Delicious! I have to try them! Right now, actually, I'm browsing one of my favorite websites, www.taquitos.net, which tells me about all the kinds of crisps.

Its true we have lots of crisp flavours in this country but most of them are disgusting I mean Ketchup flavour! ughhh :x

What?! thats like saying New Zeland is the king of sheep because they have the most sheep. We aren't kings of crisps (espically because we have a lot of unnessicary flavours which we would be better off without).

I only eat two flavours ~ Ready Salted and (very occasionally) Cheese and Onion.

Mostly Ready Salted.

And we definitely rule the world of Ready Salted crisps.

Seebrooks Salt & Vinegar, finest in the world.

I once shipped a box of 36 packs by air mail from Yorkshire to Hungary because my girlfriend liked them so much. Young, foolish, in love, what did you expect?

I think - though not sure - that Tayto NI bought the Golden Wonder plant. Bensons haven't been available for years.
