I have a friend with alopecia. It doesn’t affect his entire scalp - just blotches of it here and there. If he didn’t shave his head, it would look like he had mange. I guess if you want to say avoiding looking like mange is a fashion statement, so be it.
People on chemotherapy lose their hair and some choose not to wear a scarf or wig to hide it. I guess that’s a fashion statement too.
Some people are losing their hair due to age and shave their heads rather than do a comb-over. Another fashion statement.
