Sometimes I hate Facebook

Welcome to the club.

I like Facebook, but the stuff a lot of people post is just incredibly idiotic. Like for example people are posting now that Gilbert Gottfried died from the covid vaccine, which he did not. But I expected that because whenever somebody famous dies that's the first thing these geniuses think, covid vaccine. It's kind of like when I was a teenager and when somebody famous died people would say it was AIDS, even when it was not.

I don't usually see this this kind of insanity when I'm on Facebook. Sometimes I go to Politifact or check out r/insanepeoplefacebook. I don't know why exactly, maybe because I actually like being angry and disgusted?

Most of those I'm Facebook friends with, post happy and entertaining stuff, and sometimes something to think about. I guess I don't keep up with those whose posts I think are stupid or that I totally disagree with.

You'll always land up spending more time on the pages you are interested in and want to follow.

I'm not on Facebook, Twitter or any of that crap because I don't want old enemies finding me.

^Oh I don't think most of us are important enough to have made real enemies and even those folk from our past who dislike us, aren't likely to seek us out for revenge...they'd sooner just ignore our existence.

I was famous in high school for being the weird kid with the sensitivity to mouth sounds. I was very popular with the bullies. You wouldn't know them like I do. I would trade that "fame" for 110% obscurity any day.

Someone in my town is spreading lies about me on Facebook in my hometown group page, she not a good person, my friend told me that.

It's incredibly easy to get 'famous' as a kid among your peers. Being weird in any way will make that happen.

I had lots of traits that led people to believe I'd be an easy mark and a temper that often gave them just another thing to mock, insult and exclude me for - even if they started doing it from a safer distance.

That reminds me - my BF was constantly bullied at school for being geeky and different and one day he simply snapped - he'd had enough and they were in for a huge surprise when the ringleader got hurt. He never had any further bullying from them, after his dark side briefly emerged.

At my school 1000 km from where these events were happening, I had a hard time as well but it was mostly minor irritations to endure, with a few notable exceptions. I wish I'd have known my friend then - he could have showed me how to handle it.

Online bullying is much more insidious and faceless, and trolls think they can get away with it by targeting the weak from behind the fortifications of a keyboard.
