When I unboxed the shoes I ordered from Italy (not fancy shoes, my size was just sold out here) and what was in the bottom of the box??

CANDY AND STICKERS!! :D 8)

Kinda cheesy immature, I know, But, this is actually highly effective marketing. Very low cost for a “Wow!” factor when someone opens a box and makes me more likely to order again or recommend them to others.

Similar phenomenon when I returned from Costco with groceries for the office and people who earn well above average money are stoked to see Annie’s mac & cheese and wagon wheels.

Annnyways, we have some a new promo item to ship with some of our orders at work (it’s a cartoon character squishy stress ball thing we had made) + stickers and I’m thinking of adding some little candy to them as well. If it were up to You, what kind of little fun size/Halloween sized candy would you want to receive as a surprise bonus when you bought something? (I have one in mind But I’m curious what others say.)

Lots of companies do this btw, and then become known for sending a certain kind of candy with each order. Pretty sweet marketing tactic! ;p

My first thought was "Jelly-Belly" and "Kandy Korn" . . . and maybe a gift certificate for Timmy's.

:D

I just bought some jelly belly's the other day to sneak into a movie theatre. :p Candy corn is one of the least liked candies.. I think it's Ok, but many people don't like it. Timmy's isn't even Canadian anymore -> owned by a Brazilian Billionaire. But it's still Ok.

The squishies cost us around $1 or so each to have made. Candies are super cheap.. 10-20 cents.

I was thinking maybe we'll do these, especially if we can get a big bulk shipment of them across the border to our American shipping partner to drop into each box as well.. because apparently these are not available in the USA. Plus they're the owners' kids' favourites:

And maybe we'll just get some random mixer packs and each one gets something different/change things up whenever different candy is on sale or whatever. But consistency might count for something if we want to be known for sending a certain type of candy - I dunno; up to the marketing guy. MOST of our customers will be one-time for shipped items, then possibly multiple times for digital items, so not like they'll expect another box and the same candy.. but may refer friends and they may expect a certain candy. Hmm.

Ooo . . . Smarties!  I have not seen those in decades!

Then again, I have not gone trick-or-treating in decades, either.

I think you are on the right track, though.

Plus they may be The Most appropriate candies to represent our company.. considering we have a bunch of very smart nerds & geeks on payroll and around the world that make all the magic things happen for us to be able to do what we do and sell what we sell. Bunch of 'em are probably autistic, too. CEO says finding certain types of talent in our industry is "Like finding an autistic unicorn," and he's not wrong.

Sometimes I get a thank you card with something I ordered online, which is nice, but never candy. But then again, I'd be worried the candy might be tampered with since it came from a total stranger, and even though I know actual incidents of being poisoned by candy given out at Halloween are very rare, the whole stranger danger nonsense of the 80s is sort of part of my DNA now so whatever.

I like it OK & so does my girlfriend but she prefers the candy pumpkins, I like both kinda equally. I found some candy corn M&Ms a few years ago for a couple Halloweens & we both thought they were really good. They tasted kinda like candy corn but a lot better  I haven't seen em in a at least couple years so I think they quit making em :(
I really love Reese's peanut-butter candy but I would not recommend shipping it cuz it could get messy if it melts. The Smarties & Nerds seem like good choices for you goldfish but if your considering anything else, think about if it could easily melt or not, that would be my concern. UPS, FedEx, & our post office don't always store or deliver things in the best temp conditions.

^ Good points!

Another good option might be popeye candy cigarettes.. some of our customers might need a smoke to deal with the stress of their crap not going right! :p heh jkjk -> not sure if they even sell those things anymore.. with not promoting smoking to children and all.

Haven’t seen candy cigarettes since I was a kid.We have smarties but they don’t look like that. They are small and in a wrapper ,not a box.I’ve never seen those big ones before.

I’ve heard that what’s sold in the USA as “Smarties,” (which aren’t Smarties to Canada or the UK) are what are sold in Canada under the name “Rockets.” (Which I like.)

Lol after posting the first image below I see it must be American packaging.. which is strange because the image I googled is the Canadian version. I’ll find another.

This is what we see:

Another candy that I read is available in Canada/UK and several commonwealth countries, but not in the USA, are Maynard’s Wine Gums.

Image

And I’ve heard the USA doesn’t get Coffee Crisp chocolate bars - which have been here for generations.
