The lady in the film (Aunt Silvie) is like a cross between my Aunty (No longer alive) and my Mum though my Mum has matured. I am a bit like Ruthy (Though I am male) and my brother who is three years younger was more like Ruthys sister who thought it important to be seen as "Normal" (One would need to watch the whole film to understand).

I had one of the best upbringings by unusual parents. Today the communistic social services would be targeting us not because we were not loved or cared for. We were better cared for but because we were seen as different. We were loved and looked after better than most.

In the film Aunt Silvie does have more extremes than my family were and I had a Dad who was more down to earth in character so we did not quite go to extremes, but we were unusual and our way of life was not the same as others were which is why we stood out.

Is the character of Aunt Silvie in the film autistic? Or is she just different?

She seems autistic to me.

Yes. Is one of the films I liked watching the most. I named my locomotive number 1 after Ruthy.
