I've fallen in love with the backstories, personalities, etc. of the party characters that join your typical Role-playing mono-myth. I also recognize that developers are probably aware, and capitalize, on this.

What are your thoughts? Should we be wary of a medium that tries to fill a social/emotional gap, within a solitary experience. Who is your favorite fictional character, and how did they make you feel?

I noticed that many RPGs revolve around the player wandering about, talking and doing good deeds.
If you ignore the combat , you could just do that in real life.
But it doesn't give you massive experience point boosts like it does in fallout unfortunately.
