Is Anglophilia common for people on the spectrum?

I am American. Never even set foot in the UK. Yet from the time I was in middle school, I've been an Anglophile.

Then my brother has an Anglophile coworker on the spectrum.

I know this is only a sample size of two. But I still wonder if it means something. Most Americans I come across are either hostile or indifferent toward England/the UK (and yes, I know there's more to the UK than England). Yet the only other Anglophile American I've known of (other than myself) is also on the spectrum? Sounds like too much of a coincidence. Perhaps it's indicative of a larger pattern?

It's because most people on the spectrum love everyone instead of having their own personal critical opinions.

I'm not sure, but I am, even if there's a lot more things I'm critical of.

I have taught and known many teenage students with ASDs here in Australia. I haven't known any Anglophiles but quite a few have shown a strong interest in Japanese language and culture. I have also known several who have spoken with distinctively American accents, even though they have never visited the USA.

My impression is that a lot of Americans and Canadians are Anglophiles? Not just people on the spectrum

I've known some Americans who were Anglophiles but didn't seem autistic.

I don't know why this thread is in the haven. Is it a sensitive topic?

I’ve always been interested in the UK , probably because one grandfather was from Devon.I enjoy the tv shows.
Did a lot of genealogy on family history there.
I would love to travel there and see the gardens and old castles but that most likely will never happen.

I'm not able to speak for Canadians.

From what I've seen, very few Americans are Anglophiles. My 2 theories for why I rarely hear Americans saying anything positive about Britain:

1. The Revolutionary War
2. American media portrays Brits in a negative light

I have ancestry in the UK too. Yet so do a lot of Americans. I've even heard Americans with an obviously British last name badmouth Britain.

Personally, I would love to visit too. But the thought of the long plane ride scares me away (Not that I'm afraid of airplanes; I just don't want to deal with the jet lag)

Being in a different country/culture, in all honesty, keeps me at bay too. I know I say I'm an Anglophile. But being born and bred American, I feel my cultural differences might get in the way if I were to visit the UK. I probably unknowingly do things that are faux pas in Britain.

In other words, I like to admire Britain from a distance.

I wouldn't call it a sensitive topic. I just couldn't think of where else to put it.

There's very little you can do that's a faux pas in Britain...(except being autistic)
